My Question or Issue
On the iOS app only (the Desktop app's Recently Updated list works fine!) when I click Your Library>Podcasts and then sort by 'Recently Updated', the list is inaccurate. It will show several Podcasts with the date underneath being several days ago. But if I click on a podcast, it will being me to the podcast's page, show that there was an episode released today, and then when I go back to the Recently Updated list, it'll now show that that Podcast released an episode today. But in order to have the Recently Updated list be accurate, I need to manually click on each podcast to get the app to recognize that that podcast has a new episode and then refresh the list.
Interestingly, the 'New Episodes' list (which sits at the top of the Recently Updated list) will show a correct list of new episodes from all the various podcasts I follow, but the full list of which podcasts have recently uploaded a new episode will still not populate accurately.
I do not have any data saver on for Spotify, I have deleted the cache, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I have logged out and back in, and I have turned my phone off an back on again. The Recently Updated list is still not populating itself live.
The attached photos show this problem: the Recently Updated list show that only 'Front Burner' released a new episode (because I clicked on that podcast manually), and that all other podcasts have not released any episodes since Nov 19th. But when I click on 'New Episodes', there are several episodes that have been released today, but have not populated the Recently Updated list.
Hey there @Amadeusnarbutt,
Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community.
Could you let us know if this has started happening after a specific event such as an update either of Spotify or the OS of your iPhone?
On another note, you mentioned that you've already reinstalled the app, but would you mind going through the steps of a clean reinstall, as it's more thorough than a normal one?
If that doesn't do the trick, could you ask a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your iPhone to check if they can replicate this behavior?
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
Hello, I have a premium plan. I want to sort podcasts by Recently Updated, but that is not working for a couple of weeks by now on Spotify app on iPhone 13, lastest iOS version and on Windows 11 and Windows 10.
Sorting by recently updated does not sort the podcasts, because daily news podcasts used to be on the top, but now they are not there, even though they are daily updated. I must search for the podcast, open the detail and only then it appears on top as Recently updated.
Hi Eni,
there was no particular event that caused this. It has been this way for a few weeks, I think?
I did a full clean reinstall as per instructions and the Recently Updated list updated fine when I first logged in, but then did not continue to update regularly, leaving me in the same spot.
I do not have someone else to log in and test this, plus I would need to allow them to stay logged in on my device for at least a day to see whether the list updates as more episodes are released.
Please advise on what to do next. This is very frustrating that a basic functionality of your app is not functioning.
best,
Amadeus
Hey @Amadeusnarbutt, @brambi77cz,
Thanks for your reply.
Does this happen only with some particular podcasts or with all of them? Also, could you check if the OS of your affected devices has any pending updates?
On another note, would you mind sending us the exact make/model, operating system and Spotify version of your device )if you haven't already)?
We'll be waiting for your replies.
Hi Eni,
The entire list (all podcasts I subscribe to) behaves this way.
My OS is up to date (iOS 18.1.1) and I am using a iPhone 15 Pro Model MTU93VC/A. Spotify version is 8.9.418.
I have also subscribed to new podcasts since this issue began and when they are first subscribed to the most recent episode will appear in the Recently Updated list as normal, but as new episodes come out, it will not stay current in the list (just liek all the other podcasts).
Thanks for your attention to this matter.
Best,
Amadeus
