Advertisement on opening app for Spotify Premium

Solved!

Advertisement on opening app for Spotify Premium

Since a recent update, Spotify app on mobile now shows full-screen advertisements for newly released albums or podcasts (of creators I don't follow nor listen to) that I have to click away before I can use the app for what I actually pay for -- listen to my playlists.

This goes against the promise to be ad-free when paying for the service

Plan: Premium

Country: Colombia

Operating System: iOS

After some further searching I found that this has already been discussed and Spotify says, they are not going to do anything about it.

Thus after a decade of being a Premium user I have cancelled my subscription. It is not acceptable, to sell subscriptions as being ad-free then find ways to show them anyways.

Hey @smoe,

Thanks for reaching out.

If you don't want to receive notifications for new content, we'd recommend updating your notifications settings as described here. The changes should take effect within 24 hours.

Let us know if there's anything else.

Take care,

Hey, thanks for answering.

I already have had all notifications disabled, except news about artists via email. But, I don't see how configuration for email/push notifications is relevant to the issue where a fullscreen suggestion popup behaving exactly like an interstitial ad is showing within the app when I open it.

In case you a referring to the section "Sponsored recommendations" in the linked article, I don't see any "Learn more" to disable it (see screenshot in original post)
