AirPlay Audio pausing/skipping during playback

I've had this issue for pretty much the whole year - when using Spotify to stream to either Bose Home Portable or Sonos Move music often skips & pauses briefly during playback. Initially I though the Bose HP was to blame so I returned it in exchange for the Sonos, but the problem continued. I have really been testing out AirPlay with other apps such as ABC Listen & Apple Music, & I have no issues with AirPlay when using those services. Interestingly, when I stream to Sonos using Spotify Connect it works fine. I'd rather stay with Spotify, but if this doesn't get fixed soon, I will have to consider moving services.
