My Question or Issue

Album cover of the track currently playing doesn't show on lock screen. Before application version 9.0.0.537 this problem was not observed

Neither using wi-fi, nor the mobile operator’s network, nor turning on VPN helps.

Also does not guarantee the presence of the cover, whether the downloaded track plays.

If you pause the track and start it again, the cover appears.

It is a shame we have heard very little from Spotify on this matter. I expect more transparency from a service I am paying for.

That said, I think I have found a solution.

What I did is I updated my iPhone to 18.2.1 - https://www.macrumors.com/2025/01/06/apple-releases-ios-18-2-1/

Then, I changed a few Spotify settings.
Go to Settings and Privacy.
Then go to Playback.
From here, I turned off Crossfade, Gapless Playback, and Automix.

It has been less than a day, but some combination of this helped fix the Album Art not showing, and now it has consistently shown for me. I have yet to test this in CarPlay, but it works on the lock screen and Dynamic Island.

I second this. I turned everything JimmyNacho mentioned off and then turned it back on and so far it’s been working on my iPhone and CarPlay.

Sorry JimmyNacho, I would love it if this worked…. but unfortunately not! I did the upgrade and tweaked the Spotify settings but it still does the same thing 🙈

Spotify really needs to fix this annoying glitch!

I have my library downloaded to my iPhone 15 Plus, no data required to stream. Cover art has started to rarely display unless the song is paused and then restarted.

I also have this issue I notice on 5g and WiFi using Spotify 9.0.2.419 and iOS 18.2 performed a clean reinstall and logged in and out multiple times no solve. Also occurs on CarPlay and normal Bluetooth but when I physically open the app the album art loads.

Same here, exactly the same issue on my 15 Pro Max, running iOS 18.3 Beta 1, i had the same issue with ios 18.2.1 and iOS 18.2, so i decided to give it a go eith the beta hoping itll help but no.

Ive reinstalled the app

deleted my entire music library and redownloaded

cleared the cache multiple times

absolitely nothing helps, it occurs only in the dynamic island/lockscreen and carplay of course but for 100% of songs, it has a very high repro rate, out of 10 songs lets say, 6 dont have album art, if i press pause and play again the album art appears, same with pressing the play from beginning, the album art will appear

Ever since a week or so every time I skip a song and go to next the album art doesn’t load. I will just get a dark background picture with a music note symbol in it. When I open the app normal cover art show, close to Lock Screen or CarPlay and symbol appears again. This happens until I go back to the start of the song and when it starts a second time it will appear. Any ideas?

just updated to 18.2.1 and issue is still present. tried the settings suggested by JimmyNacho but issue persists. 

CMON SPOTIFY. this bug looks to be gaining traction. can you at least acknowledge this??

Same issue here, running iOS 18.2.1 and Spotify version 9.0.2.419 and the album covers are intermittent.

This is just an embarrassing tragedy. I loved Spotify, but now it's being completely run into the ground. I'll be switching to the competition for now.

Album art on iOS 18.2.1 and iOS 18.2 is not appearing on car infotainment screen when the phone is connected to CarPlay (wireless and wired connections apply). This appears to be happening with other users across on other devices also running iOS 18.2.1 and iOS 18.2. Some songs do load album art and others do not. The workaround seems to be pausing and playing the song. This does not seem to be an issue with Apple Music or Amazon and would indicate incompatibility between Spotify and the latest iOS update. Please fix.

Some songs are not showing album art, but if I restart the song, it appears. The song plays, it’s just annoying to not see the cover. It’s happening both on my phone and in CarPlay. I have tried doing a complete reset and deleting the app, but it is still happening. Only on certain songs though.

have reported this issue in Spotify cares account in X since 14/12/24. Did everything they advised (WiFi, mobile netowork, clean install, reset cache, no luck. But lost my settings also (lost the songs ive hidden in many playlists an more). Will never do that again, I'll be patient for next version.

My song album cover or the cover art for songs doesn’t load on my lock screen or Dynamic Island it comes and goes but it just shows a grey box with a little music note  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and troubleshooting it but nothing I think it’s a bug and I hope it get fixed in the new update
