Apple Watch Spotify app will not stream to headphones

For us to be able to help you as best we can, could you please provide some context about your issue:

• Are you still able to start Spotify on your Apple watch?
• Are you able to use other apps on your watch with the headphones?
• Did this start happening after a specific event, such as installing an update or app?
• Does the issue persists after unpairing the headphones and performing a reinstall of Spotify on your watch?

Hi Mihail,

yes spotify works on my watch and will control playback on my phone

yes the headphones are paired correctly and other apps will play through them directly from my watch

I believe it began after one of the more recent updates but I can’t pinpoint a day

yes I reset both my watch and phone, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app on both my watch and my phone, I unpaired and repaired my headphones all to no avail

When I click the output option on the Spotify watch app and select watch instead of phone it simply spins and never connects to the headphones

Thanks for getting back to us.

Can you confirm that you were previously able to stream directly from the Apple watch? Is it possible that the headphones were connected to the Phone, controlled via Connect by your smartwatch?

We ask this because feature to stream directly on the Apple Watch is still in it's test phase and not all accounts have access to it. If this is the case with your account, you can still use your Apple Watch in conjunction with Spotify as is described here.

Yes I was previously able to stream directly from the Spotify app on my watch to my headphones. I would do this all the time while running. It was not playing from my phone and my phone was not even with me at the time.

Thanks for the reply.

As @Mihail has said, the feature was most likely active on your account as part of the test phase. 

We don't have any official info when this feature will be fully rolled out to all iOS users. 

What we'd suggest is to enable automatic updates on your devices. This way you'll always get the newest update, which might include the option to stream music directly from the watch again.
