My Question or Issue
Spotify song metadata does not update on BMW when playing over Bluetooth. Usually, the first song information (image, title, duration, and queue) is displayed but does not update with new songs. BMW browse playlist feature also shows Apple Music playlists instead of Spotify ones. When using Apple Music, meta data is updated as expected.
I have updated the BMW software to the newest version through their website after reverting it to factory settings but have not had any luck 😞
Hey @Kumakama1,
Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community.
We want to reassure you that this behavior has been reported to the relevant team and the folks there are currently looking into this. Keep in mind however due to the myriad car audio system and the way each of them is set up to interpret the Spotify app we can't provide an exact time frame for a fix. We recommend keeping an eye out for future updates in order to make use of every improvement and fix, as soon as they are available.
The Community is here for you if you have any questions.
I have exactly the same car media (BMW) and exactly the same problem. Any fix?

Same problem here.
iPhone 12 Pro 15.0.2
Spotify 8.6.74.1541
BMW 330 F31 2014
Already tried to solve this issue by myself, with no success:
- reinstall Spotify app
- disconnect and forget Bluetooth connections
- downgrade BMW idrive version to factory default and reinstalling newest from bmw.com/update

Hi,
I have the same problem. I can see only first song's artwork and name. I can skip back and forth, but display stays the same, its annoying. Unfortunately, I am considering unsubscribing Spotify plan and switching to AppleMusic app, which works fine.
Spotify app - 8.6.94.351
iOS - 15.1, iPhone XS
BMW - F25 (2014), HN-002-255.073, MN-002.039.071, TN-002.039.070
Hope you can fix this soon.
Thanks,
Daniel
I'm having the same issue, in a 2014 ford explorer with Moto G power 2021, android 11, spotify 8.6.98.900

Hi,

iOS 15.5, iPhone 13 Pro
Spotify 8.7.36.1590
I just recently switched from Android to iOS 2 months ago and have been having this problem since. The metadata doesn't update after the first song, showing the first song title, image, length. The previous and next track are also listed as the first song.
Troubleshooting I've done on my own:
Has there been a fix for this yet? I noticed that its works perfectly with Apple Music, but I've been using Spotify for years and would hate to have to switch over for this.
Same here.
iPhone 13
Latest version of Spotify
BMW M5, latest software updates (2022)

Same issue with my iPhone 12 and 2014 BMW 335. What’s frustrating is that it worked fine over Bluetooth for the first few months of having the phone, but since something updated now none of the metadata in the car resets. Issue is only with Spotify app.
same Spotify app works flawless with wired CarPlay in my wife’s car though
Hello!
To anyone still having this problem, here is a solution that worked for me:
Go to your phone Settings > Bluetooth. If you have your device connected with the car it should be named BMW "XXXXX", the nubers being the last 5 digits of the car VIN. Tap the info bubble, the little "i" and there should be an option "Show Notifications". This needs to be enabled. If it still does not work after enabling it you need to forget the BMW on your iPhone and delete your device from the BMW bluetooth "Connections" menu. Pair your device with the car again and enable the "Show Notifications" option. This should fix the issue.
Worked for me anyway.
