Can't delete songs on Starred playlist using mobile app

Solved!

Can't delete songs on Starred playlist using mobile app

As of yesterday (I think my Spotify app updated yesterday), when I swipe right on a song in my Starred playlist, it no longer brings up the button to delete that song. This isn't a problem with any of my other playlists on mobile, and I can still delete songs from my Starred playlist using the Spotify computer program. This is just a problem with the Starred playlist on mobile. Help?

I'm in the same situation. The three dots no longer have an edit/ delete option when I search for the song I want removed from my playlist. I have 8000 songs. No way can I find it by scrolling. This needs to be fixed. The app was fine and great until they started tinkering with it.

And I'm using 1.9.0.2744.

I have the same problem.

Is anyone from Spotify monitoring this conversation? Your response would be appreciated
@WyndhamMisio uses Spotify on Windows PC desktop, iPad and iPhone

When in a playlist - the three dots gives an "edit" option, does it not? Anyway it is there in my app on the iPhone, and it has been there for quite some time through several updates. You guys do not have that??

I hate having to go through that process when deleting one simple song and will keep nagging until we can get a swipe delete directly from the playlist. The way it is today just takes to long and is a drag!

I have the icon next to the song with the ... but when i click on it my options are only Add to Playlist, add to queue, share, start radio, go to album, go to artist. I have attached screen shots of how it looks in my starred playlist and then the menu i get when i hit the ... button. I used to be able to just slide my finger across the song from the playlist and hit delete but I cannot do that now and there is no delete or remove button under the 3 dot menu.

Read all the posts!  The issue is not just deleting songs in a playlist.  The issue is being able to search for the song within the playlist then  delete it!  You used to be able to search for a song in the playlist and swipe right to delete it.  Now the only way to find a song is to first click on those three dots to edit the playlist then scroll through all the songs looking for the one you want to delete!

Yes thank you! You used to Be able to slide your finger across the song itself to see the delete button whether it be under starred songs or a created okay list now you have to click the 3 dots at the very very too of the app on the right (not the 3 dots next to the song) then you can click edit and delete songs but you have to scroll Through the whole list which if you have a lot of songs is a pain in the ass. I want my swipe to delete back. Obviously spotify people aren't monitoring these topics cuz no one has suggested how to fix this or why they updated it this way.

It is pretty ridiculous. Now when a song comes on I don't particularly want anymore comes on, I need to try and think of what other songs I added around that time so I know where to find it, seeing as you can't sort songs by artist on this bloody thing, only date added, which is just if not more ridiculous. Then I have to go all the way down to it, remembering to press the little three dots first which I often forget to do because I'm trying to concentrate on locating the bloody song! It's true, each update has made it more difficult, most of my songs don't even sync anymore. The only reason I can think of why I'm still paying a tenner a month is because when I think or hear a song and want it, I can usually find it in seconds. But Youtube does that .. Maybe time for a change ..

I agree, before the app updated itself, I could grab my phone and swipe the unwanted song away, now it is so much trouble I just ignore it.  This has to be an easy fix because the code was part of the last version.

Hi,

This is the solution. [solved]

1. Go to your music>>playlist>>starred.
2. On the top right corner of your screen, you will see .... Click on that.
3. Choose edit
4. Delete the songs you want to be removed from starrws playlist.

Hope I am able to help.

Cheers,

Temmari

Ha! I no longer have an iPhone but that "solution" would not fix the problem. Sure you can delete songs but you CANNOT first search for the song then delete it. So if you want to delete a certain song from your playlist you have to first click edit then scroll through hole home playlist looking for some you want to delete. Again the issue is NOT deleting a song the issue is being able to first search for the song them delete it.

Not that much interested in searching for songs in a playlist, as much as I want to be able to swipe the crappy song away with a swipe-delete option like in any other app with sense. Would be fast and simple like in any other good app that I pay for using.

Ye, but if your playlist consists of hundreds of songs you need to first be able to find it easily. Then have the ability to delete it after the search.

I get that too, but for me, I want to remove a song I am listening to - right there and then. Usually I am not in the need of searching for a song that I thought about earlier, that I suddenly need to search for and remove. Who does that anyway? You hear a bad song in your list, and you go "wow, I am tired of that one" - then I want to swipe-delete it in a second. Not planning the action through "click edit, delete, locate song again and then delete - then click done editing" It's just not user friendly.

OK so let's say you hear a bad song in your list but you are having a hard time finding the bad song. You can no longer search the playlist for the song then delete it. I understand the current way Spotify functions works for you but it does not work for some other users and we are frustrated that Spotify has removed a feature that some of us used to use making it far less user friendly. I currently have an android phone and I am able to open a playlist do a search for a song then delete it. There's no reason why you can no longer do this with ios.

If you're having trouble finding the bad song - maybe it is not a real problem after all? Never mind - I totally get that the search feature should be there and removing a feature that once was there is just bollocks by the creators of the app. I also remember the swipe delete thing being there, but it is also gone. Will someone please notify the developer team of this discussion? I really do not think they see what we type in this forum.

Hey, for all the people who are frustrated like me with Spotify and the loss of usability and swiping to delete I found a fix.. well kinda.... Hopefully you have a friend or know someone who has the old Spotify (v1.5.0.2728) on their phone where you can still swipe to delete.  I found this http://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-re-install-older-version-of-apps-on-iphone-ipad/ it worked for me!  I'm on iOS 8.1.1

Is there any way we can get an answer on this? We need a way to swipe and delete an individual song while it is playing in the starred playlist. In my Starred playlist, I have about 70000 songs that I like to listen to on shuffle. In this scenario, I cannot click the ..., then the edit button, find the song, and then delete it. As soon as you hit the ..., edit button, you have to go find the song in order to delete it. When on shuffle, with 70K songs, there is literally no way to do this. Enough people are asking to swipe, delete individual songs from the starred list on mobile app, NOT the current solution of ..., edit, find song, then delete. That is too convoluted. Please answer!!

It's clear the Community Manager isn't taking this seriously.  Even if Spotify has no intent of reinstituting the swipe to delete feature for individual tracks, s/he could at least acknowledge that we're asking by giving a simple yes or no.

I was one who could not get this to work, but it seems the app has now been updated.

Now, when I click on the three dots on the top right of the playlist, and click "edit" it gives me the option to remove songs.

This was not a feature when I first made my post.
