Spotify refuses to sync local files. It will sync every other song but wont even attempt to download local files onto my iphone. They stay grayed out.
IMy iphone and mac are conneced to the same wifi. I have the most recent mac and iphone version of spotify. I just did a clean reinstall of both. I also checked to make sure that I have the most recent IOS and OSX version, and I do. I am using a macbook pro retina 13 inch which I just bought and an iphone 5.
Hi! Welcome to the Spotify Community! Sorry you're experiencing this problem.
Can I just make sure you're doing it the right way?
Click your device (on Spotify on your PC/Mac)
And then click local files
Are you doing that?
~Joe
Hi Joe
My device is an iphone, and it does not apear on spotify on my mac. On the devices window it simply says "connect your device to the same wifi as your computer", which I do. I tried connecting my ipone to my computer as I would when syncing an ipod to itunes years ago, but that doesn't apear to even be an option any more. Nothing happened.
Okey, thanks for clearing that up.
Is the Spotify app open on your phone?
~Joe
Of course it is!
I'm having the same issue, and nothing has helped. I've looked at another thread on here where people have "solved" the problem, but it isn't working for me no matter what I do.... restart both, make a new network on my computer, restart my router... so annoying
I am having the same issue. My device (iphone) is not showing up on my Mac's spotify under Devices. I've tried everything. I suspect this is why I cannot play songs I own on Spotify. Please help.
Hi, I have had this problem for such a long time and it has been driving me mad. I couldn't sync my local files that were in my playlist to my iPhone or iPad, for example Fifth Harmony's song 'Worth It'. It was in my local files but wouldn't download and sync even if the playlist was avaliable offline. Yet theiir singles 'Sledgehammer' and 'BO$$' were syncing because they're on Spotify.
Also both my Apple products weren't showing under the devices section even if they were under the same WiFi.
However I have fixed my problem; it is due to the firewall in my HP laptop. I went into my laptop's search bar and typed in 'firewall'. I got a promt for allow a programme through firewall. I clicked on the controll panel for this and I had to change my settings for Spotify as it was only ticked in one box and not both like iTunes is. As soon as I clicked on this and saved the settings, I went back into Spotify and straight away my iPhone 5s appeared under my devices and my playlists that were containing my local files started downloading and syncing.
Hope this helps anyone else with this problem!!
🙂
Thanks for the advice.
Unfortunatly, my firewall has always been entirely turned off. 😕
Click your device (on Spotify on your PC/Mac)
And then click local files
how come i don't see this feature on my spotify windows app???!!! where do i click to get that option. Its not on my app : (
I am having the same problem as you are! I have uninstalled spotify on my iPhone 6 Plus and Mac (Deleting the cache on my Mac as well) as well as logging in and out of Spotify. I have turned the "Available Offline" switch on my phone and Mac multiple times and still nothing. My phone doesn't show under devices either (that section has been removed in the recent updates) so I am unsure of what else I can do to solve this issue. My songs were syncing just a couple months back, but they just stopped syncing one day and haven't synced since. I have a lot of local files I would like to sync, so this is a big issue to me.
you are my savior. thanks for the help
