Can't sync song

I can't sync songs to my iPhone 4S. If I add a local file to my computer, it will show up on my iPhone fine,  in the correct playlist, but it is greyed out and clicking it tells me "Track Not Synced". This is the case wired or wireless (on the same network).

Going to devices on Desktop (Win7) Spotify does not show up my iPhone either.

I can add a non-local file. i.e. one from Spotify library on my computer, and it willsync and play fine on my iPhone.

Could someone please help.  I am a premium member and this is very frustrating.

Local files have to be synched following the steps in this guide. If you still have problems after following the steps there, please post explaining where it failed.
