Can you 'shuffle all' playlists?

Solved!

Can you 'shuffle all' playlists?

You can sort of do this on the computer version of spotify by shuffling your 'library' but that is not an option to do on the iPhone application. Is this something that is possible currently that I'm not finding? Is this something that is not available currently to iPhone app users? If the previous is true, is this something that can be added in the future?

Example... I have my playlists set up by music type. Sometimes I prefer to hear all types of music shuffled together. I can't see how to make this happen currently.

Thanks
Zach.

Hey Zach,

I'm missing the same feature.

You mean a Shuffle Option that plays songs from various Playlists? Yeah, I've not come across this either.

Maybe a suggestion for future updates for the app?

However, it would be annoying if you came across shuffled songs that have not been downloaded in advanced. Just imagine you're somewhere without connection... ? Alone the time to wait until it starts playing would be an annoying thing, at least for me personally... But maybe they could build in a function that shuffles only songs that have been downloaded for offline play availability.

Let's hope for the best,

An addendum for Spotify users who have over 10,000 tracks:

I've been using Spotify for a long time and originally created my library by 'starring' tracks.

At some point, Spotify disbanded the star system and turned all starred tracks into a playlist called 'Starred'.

Then it introduced 'My Music', with the unfortunate limit of 10,000 tracks.

So, for the longest time I've been adding tracks to the Starred playlist and shuffling that every day.

Recently, my Starred playlist got split into 8 separate sub-playlists, forcing me to shuffle only one of the sub-playlists.

Trying Gibbage's solution, I found that I couldn't select the main Starred folder to shuffle all.

But, I did just discover that when I created a folder within the main Starred folder and put all my sub-playlists in that I could then shuffle that folder.

Wanted to share this.

You can do this with all playlists in a folder. When you navigate into a folder containing multiple playlists there's an "All Tracks"playlist at the top and you can shuffle that. I guess to shuffle everything you could arrange all of your playlists into a top level folder on the desktop app and then sync.

There's sadly not a "Shuffle All" feature at the moment. Although I would like this too. Gibbage's work around would solve it, however.

EDIT - Someone has posted an idea relating to this. You can find it and add Kudos right here.

Hi all,

Not the most elagent solution but a workaround might be to star all your tracks. I believe there is a function on the app to shuffle all 'starred tracks'

i just click on the "library" icon and shuffle from there to get a similar effect. You cant pick and choose playlists but it will mix up from country to rock to hip hop which is what i want.

Where do you see a "library" icon in the iOS app?

There isn't one 😉

I agree with what you've said here.  I too would like to see this incorporated into a Spotify update, thanks.

If you shuffle the library from your desktop computer, it shuffles all the songs including the ones I have in iTunes, and this library isn't visible on your phone.

From my desktop I did as mentioned above, created a folder and placed all my playlists. I can now shuffle all the songs in all the playlists. My phones can now see this new playlist I created and I’m now able to shuffle all the songs in all my playlists via andriod and ios apps. Works great.

Thanks.

But the 'library' section does provide an easy way to create a playlist with all your songs. Just go to library, select all, and create a playlist called 'library' from that. You can then shuffle that playlist from any device.

Of course you have to regularly update that playlist so it's not ideal, but it works for me for the time being.

This solution is great.

However...

When I hear a song that I don't like (this happens alot, as I have about 50 playlists) and I want to delete the song I have no way of knowing which playlist the song is from. It's annoying.

No, you can't. Huge difference between Spotify and Pandora. In Pandora you can have 12 different playlists with 5 songs each and shuffel them all. All Spotify can do is shuffle between tracks on a playlist. In my 10th day of a 30 day trial and I had Spotify way before there were audible adverts. Probably goig to cancel before I have to pay a cent. I want to pay the artists but not the app.

Put all your playlists in a folder and play as shuffle, worked for me 🙂

I created a new folder on the desktop and put playlists in it but again, I don't see an option to play this in the ios app.  People keep saying to create a folder but that seems to only be a solution on the desktop.

Another recommendation was to create an everything playlist and copy all songs to it manually, but when new songs are added to playlists via curation then they don't get added to the everything folder.

This is so unbelievably dumb.  Cant believe it didnt occur to someone at Spotify that people want to shuffle everything.

This used to be a feature with Spotify - they removed it a few years ago. It was so handy.  I cant understand why they removed this feature. Yes the common solution everyone is mentioning - collating a new folder and placing all playlists in that folder. Not idea as I have hundreds of playlists & thousands tracks. As Im sure alot of users do. If it aint broke dont fix it. - Bring it back Spotify. Please!!!

This option has disappeared now on Android, so the solution is broken. Very frustrating.

Can this item been re-opened? Since the last update this feature is missing again... Why-o-why?!!

The folder solution is only working anymore for the desktop app.

Since the last update on iOS (End of March 2017) it is no longer possible to shuffle all songs within 1 folder. You have to go into the playlist and shuffle it there.

This is VERY annoying for me since I like to shuffle between ALL my songs on my phone (3000+) while driving long distances (I don't want to go into the app while driving, way too dangerous). Now I have to select everytime a specific playlist and the "your-own-radio" feeling is completely gone.

Too bad. This is really a complete showstopper to me. Hopefully it can be added again soon.

Thanks!
