Cannot control/change songs when casting to Google Home (iOS & macOS)

I'm casting to Google Home from Spotify either on iOS (latest version) or macOS desktop (latest version). Playback works, but once I'm connected, I cannot select/play a different song unless I add it to the playback queue and press "skip". I would have to disconnect, select the song and re-connect.

Google Home firmware: 309385

Cast firmware: 1.56.309385

Spotify for macOS (Intel): 1.1.89.862.g94554d24

Spotify for iOS: 8.7.62.409

Thanks for the post.

I'd recommend unlink your Spotify from your Google devices, restarting your speaker and then re-linking your account. You can follow this guide.

You can also check if there are any firmware updates and let those run.

Let us know if that makes a difference. If you still can't change songs from your phone/ PC, can you let us know if changing the song via voice command works?
