Since yesterday, the "continue playing" button does not work on the google maps on ios. Google maps is an approved app on the spotify app and spotify is set as the music player on google maps. I have an iphone 16 using the latest version of ios. In trying to fix this problem I have: updated both apps to the most recent version, logged out and logged back in on both apps, deleted and reinstalled both apps, and restarted my phone.
I've uploaded a screen recording -- you can see the "continue playing" button flash grey as I press it several times with no response. Thanks for any help
Hey @jctam,
Thanks for reaching out on the Community! Kudos for the troubleshooting you've tried so far 🙂
To make sure we cover all bases here, could you try re-linking your Spotify account to Google Maps? You should be able to remove the link through your Spotify account page > Manage apps.
Once it's done, you can reconnect the account by following the steps on this page.
Shouldn't that do the trick, could you let us know if you are able to use other media apps with Google Maps? Also, did you notice if this happened at any specific point? Such as after an update to the Spotify app or after updating your device's OS.
Keep us posted on how you get on!
I am also having the same problem, tried uninstalling and reinstalling both apps and tried connected again but with no avail. Is this a bug?
I tried disconnecting Google Maps from Spotify on the Spotify Apps apps page and reconnecting, but that did not solve the problem. Google maps integration with Apply Music works without a problem -- I only have the problem when trying to connect Google Maps to Spotify.
I also have this problem with an iPhone 12. It started after last weeks software update from google maps and Spotify but I can’t tell which is causing the issue.
Hey folks,
Thanks for the replies!
In order to investigate this further, it'd be really helpful if you can send us the Spotify app version you're currently running. You can check the steps on how to find it here.
We'll be on the lookout.
I'm still having the problem. My app version is 8.9.96.547
Having the same issue on my iphone 15....
Just updated to the latest versions of both apps:
Version 8.9.96 of Spotify
Version 24.49.3
App version 8.9.96.547
I'm also having this same issue.
App version 8.9.96
I still have the issue with app version 8.9.96.547
Hey everyone,
Thanks for adding your details to this thread!
We've passed the info on to our tech folks so they can look into this further. We'll keep you posted here if we have any news to share 🙂
Should you come across this thread in the near future and you're experiencing similar issues, feel free to send us your details as well. The current Spotify version & your device's OS version would be great to know.
Cheers!
Same issue.
Spotify - 9.0.0.537
iOS - 18.2
same issue even after fresh install etc. just seemed to stop working a few days ago.
app version 9.0.0.537
ios version iOS 18.1.1 (22B91)
Same issure here. iPhone 12, latest iOS of of an hour ago when I updated to iOS 18.2. Google Maps & Spotify will not work together. The spotify app icon is stuck on "continue playing" when in the Google maps app. Both apps have permissions.
Forgot to add
Spotify app: 9.0.2.419
I'm having the same issue and I'm on version 9.0.2.419, with iOS 18.2.
I've tried just about everything possible - turning the setting off in Google Maps and back on, logging out of each app and back in, deleting both apps and re-installing them (after doing this, it worked again for the first time only and then went right back to not working at all), soft resetting my phone, ensuring both apps are fully updated, etc.
Also, when going into the Spotify settings "Apps and devices" the Google Maps option is grayed out where it says "Connected" so there's no option to disconnect Google Maps to attempt to reconnect it (screenshot provided).
I have the same issue. Support is a joke. They do nothing about it.
I'm having the same issue as OP. Worked great for years and something broke recently, and have tried disconnecting and reconnecting as per the instructions but to no avail. The "Continue Playing" button doesn't do anything.
iPhone 13mini
iOS 18.2
Google Maps version - 24.50.0.7044278910
Spotify version - 9.0.2.419
