My Question or Issue
Since a couple of days ago my watch does not appear as a device to stream Spotify from, in the Spotify app in the watch. I have always been able to stream, I have never had to make things offline to be able to listen to. Only the phone is showing. This has worked perfectly before. I got my new phone this week, the paring with the watch has gone fine. The watch has a esim and I have Spotify Premium. When I switched phone I choose to go for an esim in the phone to, instead of moving the simcard. Do not know if that info helps. The watch is connected to my operator, when I am out running - without my phone - I can recieve phonecalls and have 4G coverage so that the esim on the watch works fine.
I have reinstalled the watch, the spotify app on the phone and on the watch.
As seen on the attached picture I can nowadays only choose the phone to play from.
Please advise!
Hi there @frauzika,
Thanks for reaching out and welcome aboard! Does the watch appear on the phone as an available device in the connect list? If so, try selecting it from there and seeing if it then works properly. Also, does the behaviour change based on what network the watch is connected to?
Let us know how it goes.
Hi there,
Thank you. No it does not 😢 Yes same network. Wi-Fi yes and since the watch has esim it should work on its own. It works to make calls and stuff being away from the phone, only bringing the watch.
Hi @frauzika,
Thanks for the reply. Can you please try disconnecting the phone and watch from each other and then pairing them again, as shown here? Hopefully once the connection works at least once, everything else will start working as well.
Hope this helps.
Once again I did that. When I started spotify again (by phone) the watch showed up to play from - for 0,5 second! Then lost and not to be found again.
I have also tried to turn off both Wi-Fi (on both devices) and bluetooth (on phone) to force the devices not to communicate via wifi. No difference.
Hello again,
I have now updated both my fysical simcard in the phone and gotten a new esim in the watch.
What I have discovered is that everything seems to work, if you look at the settings in the watch, regardin the esim.
BUT as soon as I turn on flight mode on the phone the watch is without internet. It says it is connected to the internet but it isnt!
So not only Spotify is affected but the watch itself has no internet, although everyting looks perfect.
I am starting to think this is some kind of bug caused by Apple, but I cannot find any info about it.
My phone company (Telia) has no reports of their esim not working on apple watch.
Hey @frauzika,
Thanks for your reply and for all the info shared.
Just to confirm, are you able to stream from the watch when it's connected to your phone as well?
On another note, is this happening with a different account? It’ll help us isolate this behavior if you could check. You can ask for the Premium account of a relative or a friend to open it in your devices and check.
Lastly, we'd suggest you reset you Apple Watch to its factory settings. Since you have a cellular plan, you have the option to choose Erase All & Keep Plan. You can follow these steps to do it.
