Cant access local files on iPhone?

One of my favourite albums isnt technically an album, its a mixtape, and for some reason that means the band hasn't put it on Spotify? I'm not exactly sure why, but anyway, I ended up wasting loads of data going on YouTube to listen to the songs despite having Premium. When a friend told me I could listen to my local files on my phone I was really excited, but since putting the album into the playlist from my iTunes its been completely greyed out on my phone. I can listen to it fine on PC but it won't download at all on my phone, but when I tap it if I'm listening to music on my PC it'll come on so it obviously recognises that it's there, it just won't download. I tried everything I could think of, from deleting a bunch of music in the playlist in hopes of creating more space, downloading the album into my Music from iTunes and even completely uninstalling the app and installing it again, to have it exactly the same. I'm really confused because I honestly have no idea what else could be done to get it on there.

Have you tried downloading that playlist whilst your computer and phone are both "on" and connected to the same network? I think that might be your problem (and make sure you spotify app is also open on your computer)
