My Question or Issue
Today, when connecting to my car's audio (2019 Ram Promaster City), my phone shows that it is connected but when I click play, it disconnects and plays through the phone's speakers. I tried this with other applications (YouTube and Apple Music) and they play just fine through the car's audio. I do not have Apple CarPlay in this car, only standard Bluetooth audio. Didn't happen until the latest update release for iOS 15.
Hey there @cnusax,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community, and welcome 🙂
We'd first recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app on your phone. This is often an overlooked step, but it can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.
If this doesn't do the trick, you can also try unpairing the devices, restarting your phone and then pairing again to see if that makes a difference.
Keep us posted on how it goes.
I am having a similar issue. It isn’t limited to just car Bluetooth. Spotify doesn’t seem to recognize any of my Bluetooth speakers; however, other applications do recognize the Bluetooth speakers.
Hey @GreenGroudon5,
Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Community.
Could you let us know if you tried the steps for a clean reinstall that @Novy posted above? If that doesn't fix things, we'd recommend that you reach out in a separate thread as your issue is quite different that that of @cnusax. Make sure to also include the make, model, OS version and exact Spotify version of your device as well as more details about your Bluetooth speaker setup.
Hope this helps. Keep us posted!
Hey @cnusax,
Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
We're happy to hear that the issue got resolved for you. The Community is always here to help if anything else pops up.
Cheers!
Hi!
Thank you and @cnusax for your quick replies! I just tried the clean install solution and that fixed things (full disclosure, totally missed Novy’s reply when I was searching last night).
I will say though, the repro behavior was the exact same as cnusax. On top of only playing through my phone audio while connected to my car Bluetooth (Toyota Highlander 2015, no CarPlay), it was also failing to play through my JBL Xtreme 2 while it was connected as well. Apologies if my comment earlier in the thread was misleading!
Regardless, here is the spec info:

Re-installing the app worked for me!! Now I can play through Bluetooth devices!
