My Question or Issue

Hi All,

Recently I have switched to iPhone 13 and iOS 15. While using Spotify via CarPlay I have noticed that "Recently Played" section is not sync with what is in the Spotify app on iPhone. It is like now "Recently played" is separated between the car and iPhone.

Previously I was using iPhone 8 on iOS 14.8 and "Recently Played" visible via CarPlay was fully sync with what was in iPhone and other way around.

Do you know if there is any setting that needs to be changed to make it sync again?

My wife is using iPhone 11 on iOS 15 and do not have this problem.

Thank you in advance for help.

Hi,

It seems that problem is solved. I'm not sure what exactly has helped but these are the steps I have followed:

  1. while being logged into Spotify app on iPhone I went to settings and cleared out cache
  2. I have logged out from Spotify app on iPhone
  3. I have removed CarPlay connection to car from iPhone
  4. I have removed iPhone connection in car
  5. I have removed Spotify app from iPhone in step described in Clean Reinstall (step 2 - 6 for iPhone)
  6. I have upgraded iOS to latest released version (iOS 15.1)
  7. I have installed Spotify app from app store and logged in
  8. I have configured CarPlay connection in car

Now the "Recently Played" section is in 1 to 1 relation with what is in iPhone and it is properly refreshing.

Hey there @sqzi1983

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

Would you mind asking a friend or a relative to log in to their account in your phone to check if the issue persists with a different account?

On another note, we'd suggest that you try again with a different internet connection to see if that makes the difference.

Keep us posted.

Hi,

My wife has logged in to her Spotify account on my iPhone. I have immediately went to a car and checked if the issue persist. It turned out that "Recently Played" section in CarPlay is fully sync with what is on iPhone, hence the problem I reported do not exist with my wife's Spotify account.

I have logged out form her account and log in to my Spotify account. Unfortunately issue related to having "Recently Played" section not synced between CarPlay with what is in Spotify application on iPhone still exists. It seems that this problem is on my account level (not with iPhone, CarPlay etc).

I have cleared cache, logged out, reinstall the application, remove iPhone connection from CarPlay and reconfigured everything again. Issue still persist. Since I have reconnected iPhone to CarPlay now the "Recently Played" visible in CarPlay is empty while in Spotify app on iPhone I see everything that i was listening too.

As for internet connection - i have no other option as to use internet connection from my iPhone since this is the only source of internet while I'm in the car 🙂

Hey @sqzi1983,

Thanks for your reply and this information.

So far our troubleshooting via using another account points to an account related issue, as you describe it. But we think it's worthwhile trying one more thing here, as currently there is a newer version of the iOS out. It could be worthwhile to run all pending updates on your iPhone and see if this would make any difference for the situation.

Also you might want to try out the so called clean reinstall, which is more thorough than the normal one and ensures that no cached data will cause interference with the new installation of your app.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.
