Connect keeps finding some stranger's device

Connect keeps finding some stranger's device

I went to Burger King several days ago, and suddenly I connected to "Juan's iPhone" and couldn't hear my music until I figured out how to switch it back to my own iPhone. Now, at random, I will connect to "Juan's iPhone" over the Internet, definitely nowhere near this guy whoever he is, and whatever I'm listening to will start playing on his device. It's ridiculous. How can I stop this?

I think someone is signed into your account:

Sign Out Everywhere:
If you suspect someone is using your account, you can sign out your Spotify Account from all devices by following the simple steps below:
1) Go to your Spotify Account & Login
2) At the right side of the page you will see this:
Sign out everywhere
Sign out wherever you have Spotify open, including the web, mobile, desktop or any other devices.
3) Click on the button that says: “Sign out Everywhere”
4) Profit!

So, I've tried this solution, but someones Onkyo receiver (definately not on my home wifi network) keeps appearing in Spotify Connect. I did have to sign in again on my own devices, but this receiver just keeps being there. 😞 Frustrating as hell.

Sounds like you might be finding someone's bluetooth receiver.   Try turning off bluetooth on your device, and see if it goes away.

I know I'm replying to an old post; however, I have the same problem.

When I use Spotify from the Windows 10 Store on a shared network(e.g. a corporate network), my Spotify client automatically connects someone else's device and shows their music playing on mine. My Spotify client goes quiet since it's "playing" on a remote device. I can control what song that person is listening to as well as pause/play/next-track/previous-track/etc. their music session. If I click on the connect menu and change it to listen on my computer only, my computer continues their song session, and not mine. I have to go back, select my original playlist and try to remember where I left off.

I haven't been able to figure out what devices it connects to in an effort to troubleshoot this further, but it's not always the same device and the names of the devices are not specific enough to determine who owns them.

I did the "Sign out everywhere" feature, changed password on Spotify, had Facebook sign out of all sessions (since Facebook is attached to my account), and changed my Facebook password, but the problem persists. I'm going to determine what ports are used by Spotify Connect and try to use my firewall to block this searching, but that's only an intermediate solution. I'll want to use it at home, but not work.

Thoughts? Is there a better way to handle this?
