I the last 4 days Spotify (iOS 10.1.1, Spotify 6.8.0) has used around 25 mb of celular data without streaming a single song. That seems like an insame amount of data to consume in 4 days just for basic communication with the service. Downloading on cellular data is disabled, and this is a brand new iPhone, so uninstalling and re-installing seems very unlikely to do anything. I have been listening to exclusively downloaded playlists. The quality of downloaded songs is set to extreme.
Same problem here, spotify used up 400mb altough i disabled it to use cellular data in my iphone settings
Experienced the same problem, it used me more than 2GB in one night without listening and download over cellular was desactivated on the app. It kill my data plan and I'm overcharged of 60€.. It cost a lot to have Spotify premium!
I opened a case, I'll let you know if I receive some news about that.
My little sister is having this same issue. She has used about almost 6 GB in the last 5 days. I hope there is some solution for us
Same issue in Italy as well.
I only listen to offline playlists, no social networks activities enabled, only album cover loaded, still -using spotify no more than 90 minutes per day- consuming around 80-100 mb of data per day
Please fix it
Pietro
In the Spotify app is an option to disable data usage. Make sure to tick that option on.
Except I shouldn't have to do that. I have plenty of data, the problem is that it shouldn't be using any data if I'm not specifically doing something that requires it. I want the option to stream a song I forgot to download if I want, without having to limit the app with a toggle.
Already checked if my iPhone appears in the "offline devices" in my account. It does: still consuming plenty of data while listening to downoaded playlists.
I'm thinking of moving to another app (eg Apple music) as I'm really bothered by this issue

Same issue here - noticed my data cap was blowing out super early. Saw Spotify had used 1GB in just a couple of days, except i only play music from my offline playlists. Played some more offline music and literally watched it creeping up in MB every few minutes. Ended up blocking Spotify from accessing mobile data, which did not stop the music playing - so it must be saved offline properly so the data usage is totally redundant.
Tried a full uninstall of the Spotify app, restart & re-sync all of my offline music (around 3,000 tracks) but still the same issue.
