Echo Dot not uniquely identified as a device

Echo Dot not uniquely identified as a device

Family Plan

Country: UK

Device

(iPhone 8 ), latest iOS

My Issue:

Spotify app allows to display all Amazon/Alexa devices in device menu.

All Echo devices (One Echo, One Echo dot 4th gen) work fine, except my Echo Dot 3rd gen.

I can connect and play but Spotity confuses it with 'Everywhere'.

- When displaying for selection, it shows the everywhere icon (double device icon)

- once Selected/playing: Spotify shows as 'Everywhere' not the actual device name.

Do you know how to report bugs like this to Spotify?

Hey @Beatpope,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

We understand that you have issues with one of your Alexa devices. You can get some info about how Spotify works on Alexa devices on this page here.

Another thing that we can suggest you to try is de-registering your Echo devices from your Amazon account and then setting them up again from scratch. It could be a bit frustrating, but this seems to solve similar situations for other users. See if it makes a difference for you.

We found out a discussion on something similar in a thread here, so you might want to check that out for possible solutions too.

Hope something here helps and does the trick for you, reach out if you need more help!
