My Question or Issue

When I go to the devices menu in Spotify, my echo speaker group shows, but only has one speaker next to the name (it used to have 2). When I click the speaker group, it changes to one of the two speakers in the group and disappears as a device option in the menu. It has been doing this for about a month and a half. I am able to play on both speakers from the Amazon Alexa app but as soon as I go into the Spotify app to play on the speaker group it goes away.
I have tried:

-Completely deleting the Spotify app and all its data/cache

-Unlinking and delinking Spotify acount to my Amazon account

-Resetting networks on both echo devices.
-Restarting both echo devices.

-Resetting WiFi network.

Hey @Alex2902,

Thanks for the post.

We recommend that you first remove all speakers and delete groups from the Amazon app and afterwards unlink your Spotify account. After that run a clean reinstall of the Spotify app.

This should reset the connection between the apps and speakers and remove any malfunctioning files from previous installations. In most cases this resolves issues like the ones you're experiencing.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Unfortunately this did not work.

Hey @Alex2902,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Can you try connecting all devices to a mobile hotspot network? This way we can check if the issue is network related at all.

Cheers.

I'm having the same issue with 7 echo speakers grouped together. This issue started during the last month or so and only when using my iPhone and iPad apps. If I select the “Everywhere” group it always changes to my bedroom speaker. I can select the "Everywhere" group using the PC Spotify app or on my wife's Android phone without an issue. I've uninstalled Spotify, unlinked my Spotify account and rebooted every device including my router. This problem seems to be an issue on iOS devices.

Same issue here,

The problem seems to be only if I use Spotify from the iPhone app. If I use Spotify via web browser on my Mac or through the native app for the Mac, I’m perfectly able to see both single devices and devices as a set of speakers called “Everywhere”.

Already tried all the troubleshooting steps but nothing seems to work. If I use android device I don’t have any problem at all.

Is there anyone that can help to solve this issue?

Thanks

Hi Yordan,

Thank you for looking into that!

It seems like that after the last update of Spotify app the issue is now solved. Anyway I’ll continue to monitor the situations.

Regarding your questions:

  • Spotify App version: 8.6.94.351
  • iOS 15.2
  • 2 Amazon Echo Dot: 3rd Gen and 4th Gen

Thanks!

The newest update to Spotify has fixed the issue. Thank you.

Hi folks!

Thanks for all the info you've sent so far.

Looks like there's a newer version of the app. Could you try reinstalling one more time to make sure you're running the latest version? Let us know if you notice any difference.

If the issue still persists, would you mind sending us the info @Yordan requested previously?

We'll be on the lookout for your replies 🙂

Hi Eni,

Issue seems now solved even do sometimes I still have some problems with Spotify connect and the echo dots. for example I see the group “Everywhere” duplicated multiple times or if I select “Everywhere” one of the 2 echo dots disappeared.

I’m currently using the app with the version 8.6.96.591.

Thank you for your help and support

Hi!

I'll open this loop again ...

Spotify had been working perfectly on our Alexa devices, but about 3 days ago it started to work imporperly in Alexa group, and we only can play one at time.
If we go to the phone app and we could select the group and play music in every group member at same time, but this is not practical.
Now we are usin Amazon Music in the device and works perfectly, but I would like to go back to spotify app ... but we really don't know what changed from some days ago when works perfectly.
We tried several things in Amazon, but it seems is spotify issue.
I hope you can help us!

Hey @Pablo73,

Thanks for reaching out.

To better understand your issue, please send us a short video of the behavior. If the file is too large to attach, you can upload it to Google Drive (make sure to allow general access to the file) or as an unlisted YouTube video.

Also, let us know what troubleshooting steps you've tried so far so we avoid repeating any.

Cheers,
