Experimental iOS design?

Solved!

Experimental iOS design?

So this is a bit of an odd post, but I was using the Spotify app, selected my 'New Music Weekly' playlist, and it took me to an entirely new playlist design--one that I liked, as well. The player design was also much cleaner, and featured a solid pause/play button. The album art work was fully zoomed in, and looked much like the Google Play music app. I closed the player to see what else had changed, and then when I reopened the player, it immediately reverted itself to its old form. Is there any official news to what this design was?

Hey @madasmas

Yes something like this is currently in testing.

If you are in the US, you can permanently test out this new design by visiting the RapCaviar playlist in the iOS app:

https://open.spotify.com/user/spotify/playlist/37i9dQZF1DX0XUsuxWHRQd

Right now this playlist (and only this playlist) shows the new design for everyone in the US.

Yeah that's pretty awesome! Any chance that design will take over?

There's currently no information on if that design will show up anywhere else.

Daaaangg

Yeah, I really like that the album art shows up in the playlist view next to the song title. That would help me when scrolling through playlists because I remember songs by their album art. Hopefully we'll see more of the design.

Yeah I totally agree. I also love the changing play button color with the album art. That was something that iTunes had before with their album view but removed for some reason. My only issue with this new design is that the player view doesn't show the full album art—but it's not a huge deal!

I'm also totally on board this works perfectly in landscape and helps me forget about my split screen going away with 8.3. the only thing that I would like to see different is the ability for the play button to stay on the screen versus fading away after a second.
