Google alarm automation DISABLES shuffle on selected playlist

Have setup an alarm through google home to play a playlist. Despite having the playlist set to shuffle the playlist DISABLES shuffle and plays the first song in the playlist. I have premuim spotify, using iOS17.5.1 and google home connected to a lenovo alarm.

I have noticed when I have the app open on desktop and mobile simultaneously, as soon as the alarm starts, the suffle icon flips through shuffle, smart shuffle then to off. This happens on both devices. This also occurs whent both devices have their apps closed.

Things I have tried:
1. full spotify app removal from iOS inclusing deleting cache and data follwing website guide
2. unlinking spotify from google home and reconnecting
