Google cast devices do not appear until the app is closed and reopened

My Question or Issue

When music is not playing through spotify and my iPhone has been screen-off/sleeping, I open spotify, find music I want to listen to, then attempt to cast to a Google cast device (chromecast audio or google home, both are affected) and no devices appear. If I go to the app switcher and swipe-up to close spotify, then reopen spotify, it works correctly, displaying all of my cast devices. Shouldn't they populate without having to close the app forcibly?
