After the latest update, my iPhone 14 Pro Max has started doing this. iPhone overheats on the
Currently running iOS 17.6.1 and Spotify 8.9.82.628. Monitoring it with a IR thermometer it spikes from ambient of about 20 to over 40 in a few minutes then crashes out.
Have performed a full removal and reinstall from the steps listed in another thread and no change. This only started happening from the latest update a week or so ago.
Have overnight updated to iOS 18.1 and same problem persists.
Please help! Without music I am not a happy camper!!
Hello, there.
This issue can happen when we are "demanding" a lot of the phone processor it can happen when we are playing a game, listening to music or having multiple tabs open at the same time.
Here is an article that can help you: https://support.apple.com/en-us/118431
Thanks for replying. I am aware of the above however this behaviour has only started since last update and does it when Spotify is the only app running.
I don’t play games on my phone and even sat doing nothing else crashes after 3 - 4 minutes.
In addition, the same behaviour is happening on my iPad as well.
Could it be a corrupted library file/registry issue? I can’t understand why this issue would appear after the update on 2 separate devices. Interestingly, my daughters iPad running exact same version doesn’t crash.
UPDATE: After creating a new account, my phone and iPad are no longer crashing/overheating so seems to be account related.
No idea how. Corrupted registry maybe?
now left with the issue of transferring or rebuilding my library in my new account 😞
I have the same problem like straurob.
Since around the end of September, it has no longer been possible to use Spotify as usual.
The Spotify app crashes immediately on startup.
This sometimes happens 5 times in a row.
When the app is opened, I don't see my user name, but a sequence of numbers and letters.
When I search for a piece of music or want to play it, only the three charging points appear, but nothing happens.
I use the app on my iPad or iPhone (IOS 18) with the same problem.
I have already tried all the usual ways to fix the problem (for example: clearing the cache, reinstalling, logging off and on, restarting, checking the internet connection, etc.).
I use the same App version: 8.9.82.628

My Question or Issue
Pressing the forward, rewind, or queue icon causes my app to immediately crash. Not sure at all what is causing this bug. This occurs while using bluetooth or Carplay, but weirdly does not affect the podcast 30 second rewind or skip buttons. The app will also crash if it has to move on to another song, but not while replaying the same song if set to repeat 1 song. Just wanted to make sure this bug was made known to the devs.
