My Question or Issue

This here is what Spotify's new homepage supposed to do:

"As you may notice throughout your day, the screen and content change along with your schedule, welcoming you with a “Good morning” and transitioning into “Good afternoon,” and even “Good evening” as daylight wanes."

However, it has stopped working. The top of my homepage has been stuck with recommendations of a few podcasts that I listen to and one that I haven't listen to for weeks, and has stopped updating according to my listening habits, as none of my frequently listened to music playlist show up there. It is annoying to see stuff I don't like the moment I open Spotify. I tried reinstalling the app but the homepage stayed the same. This is definitely a crappy failed recommendation algorithm making the user experience suffer. It has been forever but there is still no option to blacklist podcasts.

 

From a very disappointed and slightly disgruntled  user.

Well, apparently a 'rock star' asked me to do a clean install and I did that, but when I logged in the homepage is still the same.  I also logged into the web player and the 'shortcuts'  still stayed the same. I don't think I will be creating a new account just because I'm lazy and it seems gratuitous.

I don't believe only my account has this issue because it seems this function is available for every user? (I think so), so there is bound to be someone else who is experiencing this as well. UNLESS my account is being targeted for whatever reason, maybe the way I was using it with a VPN or being in a family plan.

Apologies, I had to remove my last post as it duplicated from another post prior to responding to you. However, great stuff on trying the clean reinstall, I will do a deeper look in to this and see whether I can find out whether there is any known issues on this right now or causes.

 

This maybe be caused by the VPN as Spotify doesn't recommend using these due to the interruptions and the bugs this can cause with the app, however this may not be impacting this.

 

Spotify currently doesn't have any immediate plans to allow users to be able to customise there start screens (i.e blacklisting content), however you can show your support by adding a +VOTE here

The new home page was released in March last year. I still don’t have it. It is what it is.

I've checked in with the team, there is a likelihood the VPN is causing issues with the recommendations as data isn't communicating with Spotify as it should usually be. The Family plan has no impact, on this feature not updating. 

 

I'd recommending clear your cache on all devices with Spotify regularly and to listen to more music by searching for the tracks and playlists as the recommendation pool won't make many changes if you only listen to music from playlists like Daily Mix and Release Radar. If you do have a private session on, this can also impact your recommendations so I'd recommend that you keep this off. 

 

I'd recommend not using a VPN if possible for the next week to see whether you see any changes at all.
