How to change to Student Subscription

I have Spotify Premium but I pay for it with iTunes gift cards and I want to know how to switch to the Student Subscription but when I try it asks for a credit card how do I do it?

To sign up for the student discount, go here:
http://spotify.com/student

You may need to first cancel your current subscription before signing up for the student discount if you are getting an error message.

As far as i know you cannot get the student discount through a iTunes payment, only via Spotify directly, which requires a credit card

Will I loose my saved songs and playlists in the time I cancel the premium to sign up for the student?
