Hi peter
Nano 2nd generation
Thanks

I am having the same problem.  My iPhone, iPod Touch and iPod Nano won't connect with USB cables and show up under "Devices".  I turned off iTunes, made sure the Firewall wouldn't block the program.  Followed all the instructions and none of it worked.  Can someone please post step-by-step directions to get the Device to show up under the Device menu?  The instructions on Spotify don't work.

@johni - Is the firmware on your iPod up to date in iTunes?

@Jackmeatball - You can't sync iPhones or iPod Touches using USB, those devices need to sync via WiFi since they have a supported Spotify app by following the instructions here:

https://support.spotify.com/learn-more/faq/#!/article/Sync-your-device-with-Spotify

What generation is your nano? Unfortunately Spotify do not support any iPods with the new lightning connector.

The instructions are fine, particularly the part about connecting ipod touch and iphone over wifi and not usb. The only device which synchs over USB is the Nano, following these instructions. If it uses the lightning connector, I'm afraid it can't be synched with spotify though so just keep using itunes with it.

Turning to your other two devices, as I already said, they connect to the desktop client over wifi. Using a USB connection can actually cause problems. If your mobiles don't show under devices in the client when you follow these instructions, here are a few things to check:

  • Disable all firewalls
  • Disable any antivirus or other security programmes
  • Make sure that UPnP is enabled in the router settings
  • Make sure that both your PC and the mobile are connected to the same subnet (if the PC uses a cable, it needs to be connected to the wireless router if it is seperate from the modem)

Hi yes
I updated this after looking pn line for solutions. I take it is possible to connect the nano assuming that everything is correct?
Thanks

Yes should be - what generation of nano is it?

I have a gen 4 nano. When I plug it in to my computer Spotify doesn't recognize it. It doesn't even say devices anywhere
