My Question or Issue
Hi, I am unable to get SharePlay to work properly. All parties are using IOS 15.1 and Spotify version 8.6.78.419.
After opening the app during a FaceTime, the SharePlay automatically starts and shows as connected for both me and the recipient in the FaceTime app. However, once I start playing my music the receiving party cannot hear any audio. I have tried this with several different people and devices and am unable to get SharePlay to work properly on my account. I have also noticed that others are unable to start a SharePlay with me, even though I am able to start one with them. Anybody else experiencing similar issues?
Currently dealing with the same thing, canโt seem to find a fix for it
Hey @Celasuse,
Thanks for posting here ๐
Just to double-check-are there any changes when you try with another account on the same device?
It's also important to make sure that the accounts of the other users are also on Premium.
Keep us posted.
I habe the same problem. When starting a session I see started group session and immediately I see ended group session. How to fix this?
I've spent over an hour with my two friends trying to get this work tonight. I'm a software engineer, so I'm familiar with the ins-and-outs of attempting to get broken software to work.
The behaviour we're experiencing is:
All three of us have tried:
Something must be broken here, and I have a feeling it's likely on Spotify's end.
It was working for us three nights ago, so I find it extremely odd that all of a sudden it's not working at all, for any of us, on any device.
I'd love to know if anyone has figured out how to get this to work.
I want to vibe with my buddies!
Hey @EdwinFinch and @Kriang_0,
Thanks for reaching out about this on the Community!
@EdwinFinch, we're really grateful for this extended info, which will surely be of help in investigating this situation further. Could we ask you if it's possible to send us a short video of the situation as well, as this would complement your cool feedback and help us better replicate the situation.
@Kriang_0, we understand you experience the same issue, but could we ask you to confirm with us the current versions of your iOS and Spotify app as well? Also, would you mind sharing what troubleshooting steps you've done on your end so far. If possible also send for us a short video of the situation. You can send a link to it or attach it using the Insert Video option in the post editor.
Keep us posted, we'll be on the lookout for your replies.
Hey Kiril,
Regarding the Versions: iOS: 15.1.1, Spotify 8.6.84.1353.
Haven't tried anything other than sharing screen (which also share audio). And repeating the process of enabling share play over and over again.
Hi @Kriang_0,
Thank you for your swift reply and sharing that info.
Please don't forget to send us a screen recording of what happens when you try to use the feature, this will help us keep investigating.
In the meantime, it's worth reinstalling both apps in order to unlink the accounts and link them again.
Keep us posted!
Hi, I am a Spotify premium duo member but SharePlay does not work on me or my friends phone. We have the latest Apple update. Whenever we try to join a session it says joined but the moment we play something it says that the group session has ended. We have deleted and redownloaded the app. We have signed out and back in. We have copied the links and places it in the search bar and we have checked that SharePlay is enabled on FaceTime and also deactivated and deactivated FaceTime and have also shut down and restarted our iPhones but none of these work and itโs becoming a major issue so what can I do.
Hey @Obito2,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community.
We've tried to reproduce this issue but we are not able to.
Can you let us know if this error occurs only when you're trying with one friend or with other people as well? If so, is your friend a Premium user as well?
On another note, it'd be great if you can share with us if the group session function works well for you without Share Play.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply.
SharePlay only works if he sends me the link straight from the app. It never works through FaceTime.
Same thing is happening to me and my bf it says it started for both of us but one of us can hear the song and the other one is says the host cannot play this content or wonโt even let me press play
Years have passed but the situation is still the same. Disappointed with Spotify's bug-fix responses.
Yup! Consistently had this issue for years. When ya gonna step up Spotify?
