Issues with Spotify iOS application and Ford Sync

Issues with Spotify iOS application and Ford Sync

I'm having what I would describe as an issue, but I'm not sure if it is really that, a bug, or some setting that I've overlooked.

I have an iPhone 4S that I use in my work truck to exclusively play music using Spotify through the USB connection.  Recently the Spotify application has started to close every time I shut off my truck instead of simply pause as it did previously, which is extremely inconvenient as I may start and stop my truck 20 times an hour (company rules, don't get me started).

Anyway, that's the long and short of it.

I posted roughly the same thing on the Apple forums and slightly implied that it was intentional on Apple's part (since the issue seemed to start around the same time as iTunes Radio) and I was absolutely attacked and had my post removed.  So, they're not very helpful over there.

Thanks.

Does not sound very good, no matter what it sounds annoying.

Have you tried to reinstall Spotify and/or used another iPhone with Spotify as well?

If my post solved your issue, please accept it as a solution.

Sorry it took me a while to reply.  I wanted to try both of your suggestions before replying and I'm forgetful.

Neither worked.  My iPhone 4S continues to act the same.  I tried it with my newer iPhone 5S and it behaves the same way, though it seems slightly better.  It is also connected via bluetooth which adds another level of complication because now the phone also can't decide whether it should be playing music through the usb port or via bluetooth audio.

It seems to me that the application is getting some sort of command from the Ford Sync system to close when the radio powers off, or that iOS realizes that the radio has been turned off and closes the Spotify app.  Neither is preferable but one is potentially out of Spotify's hands.

With two phones behaving the same way, unless the problem is specific the the radio in my truck, I can't imagine that I'm the only person out there having this issue.  I know I've dealt with it in silence for several months so I'd presume that's what others are doing.

Hi,

I have been in contact with Spotify Cares back and forth for over a month now trying to get this resolved with no answers yet. Have you been able to figure out the issue with this? I use a connected iPad through USB in my truck and have not been able to figure this out. It is very frustrating. Thanks!
