So I've had this issue for a while, and someone on the @SpotifyCares twitter was supposed to be looking into it and even got me to switch back to Spotify from Rdio by saying it would be taken care of. Apparently it hasn't.
My problems started with my local files that I had on my playlists not syncing properly to iOS (on my phone or iPad), so that when I would put my playlists on shuffle, it would stop playing on certain songs periodically. I understand there are certain file types that can't be play and I wasn't about to go through each song I had on there so I just took all my local files off.
But recently I added 4 local files back onto the playlist (I checked and made sure they weren't protected, they aren't, I purchased them), and it's screwed up my whole playlist again.
Now, not only are the 4 local purchased songs not syncing on my iphone but numerous other songs that are straight from spotify do not have the green arrow next to them either and I can't get my computer/phone to resync the playlist by toggling the "Available Offline" bar.
1. I am not over the file limit. Yes this play list is 1936 songs and the other playlists I have synced offline are about 600 but that still does not add up to 3333.
2. I already took spotify off of my mac/iphone/ipad multiple times and redownloaded and it does not help.
3. Yes all of my devices are on the same wifi
4. Yes my computers are not idle, I have them set to not go asleep/no screensaver while they were syncing.
I think I covered everything. So basically the only fully functioning playlist is on my mac. And I don't understand how 4 unprotected local files could screw up a playlist of all spotify songs.
Normaly local files do not cout to the 3333 song limit.
I'm having a similar issue. Would love to know how to resolve.
I've updated Quicktime on my Desktop, I've removed all the local files on my iphone to try to get Spotify to just stream all the music - but still, a large majority of my music won't playl.
Update: There's a green arrow now next to the playlist, but still not next to all of the songs again. The local files are no longer "grayed out though" and are playing with green arrows next to them. I'm currently listening to list on shuffle to see if it still randomly stops playing sometimes since there are still songs that don't have a green arrow next to them.
But I have no idea what I did. So if it is fixed, we still don't have an answer why it happens in the first place.
I have simpliar experience .. sometimes they have the green arrow but i also have without green arrow but light title and both work .. but then there are some which are greyed out.
Another update: As I had the playlist on shuffle on my phone, one of the songs started playing (the timer started going) but the song itself was not playing even with teh volume all the way up and this was not one of the local songs that I added. It was a spotify song with a green arrow next to it. So while it's not just stopping all together anymore, for some reason now they are "playing" without actually playing
ah .. i also have sometimes this behaviour. restarting the app often solves the problem
