Local Songs not playing on iphone

Local Songs not playing on iphone

I am having an issue where my local files will play on my macbook, but for whatever reason my iphone gives me a hard time. Essentially on my iphone I can see all the songs but when I go to click on them, it basically "flashes" as if it's about to play the song then doesn't. If I click the song over and over and over again eventually it'll play. I have to do this to all the songs constantly to be able to play the playlist. Then the next day it does it again.

Can someone explain why this is happening and how to solve it? I haven't recently moved the file location of the songs, and I've ensured the "local files" toggle is turned on for both my macbook and my iphone.

Hi there @kaileechartrand,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

First, we'd like to mention that the feature allowing syncing of local files between devices is in the process of being deprecated, so it's expected to see some issues with it. Now, in order to be able to play the Local Files, they need to be stored on the device you're trying to play them from. If this is happening on your mobile device, then make sure the audio files are on your device's memory.

If they are, then go to the app's Settings and disable the option Show audio files from this device, then scroll down to Storage and select Clear cache. Once done, restart Spotify and turn the Local files back on. If that doesn't make a difference, it's best to run a clean reinstall of the Spotify app by following these steps. No worries, you won't lose any content.

Let us know how that goes.
