My Question or Issue

hi,

I've been using Local Files for a while now and never had any problems when I downloaded some songs into my playlists. However, I was going to do the exact same thing I always do and the song was grey when I looked at it on my phone. It played normally when I used Spotify on my PC, but I couldn't listen to it on my phone.

I know there's similar questions to this one already and most of them are solved, but I've tried all of the solutions and none of them worked for me: turning off my firewall, same network, using my phone's hotspot, creating a separate playlist, change the local files location, even re-downloading my playlist on both my phone and PC (which also made me lose all of the previous local files I had there and I cannot put it back).

I've been having a few issues with Spotify because it's been lagging A LOT recently and I know it might not have anything to do with my problem, but it has been a pretty stressful situation overall.

Thank you so much and please help me whenever it's possible, it'd help a lot! - Luca

Hey there @clearbndit!

Thanks for reaching out to us about this.  Apologies for the delayed response, we just came across this thread.

We'd recommend starting with a basic step that is often overlooked -can you try logging out from your phone > restarting it > logging back in.

Another thing you can check is by going to Settings on your mobile app > Local Files and switch on Enable sync from desktop. You need to allow Spotify to find devices in the prompt that shows and that should allow the files to sync.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply! Let us know if you have any questions.

Hey Elena! Hope you're doing well 🙂

Thank you so much for reaching out and don't worry about the delay, it's totally fine.

I ended up solving my issue later on on the same day, but to be fully honest, I have no idea how I did it. I reinstalled the app on my phone, turned on "Enable sync from desktop" again (because it gets turned off after you delete the app and download it again) and somehow it worked.

Not exactly sure what happened, but I'm glad it's working again.

Again, thank you so much for the support, have a good day! 😊

This is so great to hear @clearbndit!

It might be have a been some sort of temporary cache issue that got fixed with the reinstall.

We're happy to hear it's working now! If there's anything else we can do for you, you know where to find us!

Take care!
