Local files says it's downloaded, but not playing on app (iPhone 11)

Local files says it's downloaded, but not playing on app (iPhone 11)

Device

iPhone 11

Operating System

iOS 14.6

Computer: Windows 10

I recently upgraded my phone from the iPhone 7 to the iPhone 11. The person who helped me with the phone put everything from my old iPhone to my new one. I didn't know that my local files wouldn't transfer. As you can see, the songs say they are downloaded, but they aren't playing on my iPhone. They work fine on my computer. By the way, I used the same computer to download the previous local files to the new phone. I did organize all my local files to a new folder, and added that to the source list in settings. The "local audio files" button is checked in Spotify settings. I'm using the same WiFi network with my computer as my phone. What should I do? Thanks.IMG-1010.PNG

Hey @rosemf,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

We'd recommend running a clean reinstall on the app on your phone. Please follow this guide:

After that try reuploading the files to your phone. Make sure the Spotify app is granted all permissions in the app settings.

If after that the files are still not playable, connect both your computer and the phone to another network, like a mobile hotspot, and reupload the local files again.

Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.

hello, I am having the same problem. If I reinstall spotify will I have to redownload all my music? I have thousands of songs & would like to avoid that. The songs have the same question mark & upon clicking it says they are in my computer & I should connect to the same wi-fi. I have done this & still nothing happens.

Hey @calvin-n,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

That's right, if you reinstall the app, you'll have to re-download your tunes.

On another note, could you check if you've followed these specific steps to listen to your local files?

Additionally and just to confirm, is this happening on your phone or on your PC as well?

We'll be on the lookout.
