Moving from Apple Music to Spotify- why so hard?

Moving from Apple Music to Spotify- why so hard?

What is the deal here? Why is it so difficult to move from Apple Music to Spotify?
There are advocates recruiting us, then we get here and are treated like pariah with issue after issue. Do you really expect me to sit and manually recreate every artist and playlist?
Please explain:
Why doesn't Spotify recognise songs on my device?
Why can't Spotify pull data points from public profiles like every other application on the planet?
Why does Spotify recommend only Male Artists when Rihanna is played?
Convince me I should be on this platform because I have already spent 12 hours on this endeavor. Why does Spotify deserve my $10/month?

Hi Onagh,

Sorry to hear you're dissatisfied with Spotify! I will explain everything to the best of my ability (please keep in mind I am not a Spotify Employee and just a community member as are you)

1)Why doesn't Spotify recognise songs on my device?

In the settings you will be able to set where you store your music, from there Spotify will get the metadata for the song and make it available for you to play through the Spotify client!

2)Why doesn't Spotify pull data points from public profiles like every other application on the planet?

This one I don't quite understand and so I cannot answer, sorry!

3)Why does Spotify recommend only Male Artists when Rihanna is played?

This could be because many people that listen to Rihanna will then listen to a Male artists and as such Spotify recommends them as it is similar to other trends from other people with similar tasts as your own. These recommendations improve over time as you listen and you will start to find artists that you like!

4)Convince me I should be on this platform because I have already spent 12 hours on this endeavor.

Spotify's platform offers a wide range of music for you to listen to, that coupled with being able to find like-minded people creating their own playlsts that you like and being able to follow them, be able to see what your fiends are listening to and a host of other features, I think that you would enjoy Spotify.

5)Why does Spotify deserve my $10/month?

Your $10/month will be well spent on Spotify as it is a brilliant platform allowing  Music Enthusiasts to be social, share their tastes and widen their tastes through others or through personal reccomendations through Spotify. Your $10/month will contribute to help keep this platform growing and evoloving, adapting to your tastes and wants.

If you need anyhting else, feel free to let me know!

Best,

Jordan

Thanks Jordan that was an awesome response and I appreciate the information.

Nope. What ever version of Spotify I have it does not have an option to identify a music storage location. So maybe this is the whole problem.
I am on Apple Devices and neither my phone nor tablet app have the ability or option.

So basically if you are an Apple Product user you either have to reinvent the shell on Spotify or just don't use the app.

Thanks again that was really helpful.

Hey Onagh,

Glad you thought so, just to make sure, did you go into your settings, scroll to the bottom and see 'Storage' under 'Other'.

Let me know how you go! If you need anything else let me know!

Best,

Jordan

I just looked at the Spotify App on an Android device and compared to my Apple device.
It is a completely different application on the Apple device.
So the answer is: Apple users must reinvent the wheel from the ground up, and any music we have previously purchased and downloaded to our device is now void, can not be played on Spotify.
