My iPod is plugged in and charging but not connecting to Spotify

Solved!

My iPod is plugged in and charging but not connecting to Spotify

I just got a new iPod and decided to use Spotify since I'm not a fan of iTunes. I've started a premium membership and made a few playlists. When I plug my iPod into the computer, I know it's connected because it's charging, BUT nothing shows up under the "devices" tab on my Spotify. I read some help topics and all they say is to unplug and replug the iPod in, which I have done probably 100 times. I even restarted my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify, all with no luck. Is this an issue with my iPod or USB cord? I'm lost...I just want to be able to take this darn thing to the gym and listen to my playlists.

ALSO - when I open my Rhapsody, I can see that my iPod is connected to that just fine, so I'm assuming this is a Spotify issue. I just can't use Rhapsody with my Apple product which is why I am using Spotify to begin with.

If it is new iPod with one of the new lightning connectors (smaller than the old ones) then unfortunately they are not currently supported by Spotify due to this open bug.

Well that makes sense, thank you Peter. In reading that post, it seems that I won't be able to sync music to this anyway unless I purchase/own it, is that correct? Even with a Premium subscription? If so, I'll be returning this iPod for something that I can use a subscription service with. I am not a fan of having to purchase each song, not knowining how much I'll dig it. I have had Rhapsody for years and have always been happy with it, I just wanted an iPod 😞

Yes that is correct, even with Spotify premium you can't sync content to an iPod that you don't already own as local files (unless its an iPod Touch which can use the Spotify App).
