Hey there @zipoxtra, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a clean reinstall of the app following these steps. These steps are more thorough than the simple reinstall and can solve common issues.

If you're still having trouble, can you let me know the make and model of the device you're experiencing this on?

Note: I'm not a Spotify employee.

From years of experience I knew this wouldn't work

and just as I thought it didn't.

local files both from music library and

spotify folder remain unresponsive

to volume changes and appear to stay

on quite mode no matter where the

V indicator is places in volume control

nothing? really?

Hey @zipoxtra,

Apologies for the delayed reply here 🙂

We managed to test the described behaviour with the same device model as yours and the issue was not present on our end. We can do some more digging though.

Does the issue occur with all local files for you? It seems to be related to either a specific setting on your specific device or to the copies of the local files themselves.

What I'd suggest as further means of testing is to check if the volume of these local files can be controlled when accessed via a different device. In addition to that, if you can grab hold of any other tracks in an .mp3 format - see if the volume issue would be present on them as well.

Keep us posted 🙌🏼

yes it appears with all local files

problem remains after latest update

(8.9.32.586)

I tried everything from cache cleaning

to reinstalling but the issue seems to remain.

also tried to turn the app's equalizer off

and it had an immediate effect on local songs

so clearly this issue is isolated to the

normalizer volume levels feature

I hope this gets sorted out asap.

on a side note,  as a *paying customer,

I don't think I should be subjected

to endless captcha tests when writing

or editing a message.

you might want to consider stopping

this nuisance for premium members,
because it's a useless annoyance.

thank you.

also just downloaded a brand new

song from the internet to the spotify folder

problem remains. so definitely software issue

because like I said equalizer feature IS

responsive to local files but not normalizing

volume feature.

Hey @zipoxtra,

Thanks for your replies and for the info shared.

We couldn't replicate the behavior you mentioned on an Android device. Just to confirm, are all your local files of the same quality? Or do they defer depending on the type of file?

It'd be really helpful if you sent us a video recording of what you kindly mentioned. You can attach it in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and make it public, so we can visualize it.

Keep us in the loop!

I use iphone 13 pro I don't use Android.

and like I said, I did create a new mp3

file with no limitations to test this

and it behaves like the rest

Thanks for the reply and all additional info @zipoxtra!

Just to confirm, does this happen at any specific points? For example, only when using Bluetooth headphones.

We also recommend checking for updates for the device's operating system, to make sure everything's up-to-date.

So that we can have a closer look and get a better understanding of what's happening, it would be helpful if you could include a video showing how things look from your end. Feel free to include it in your next reply.

Let us know how you get on.

it's stays unresponsive

with AND without bluetooth devices.

my ios is updated to the latest version

and my device is iphone 13 pro

Thanks for the response, @zipoxtra.

Would you mind sending us a video recording like @Maria mentioned so we can take a look? You can either upload it via the Insert Video option in the post editor and if the attachment's too big, then upload it to Google Drive and share the link with us (just make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to see it).

Hope to hear from you soon.

This was recorded on the latest version

of spotify v. 8.9.34.567

I wasn't able to use your services

to upload the video so I used

an external service but it's only

available for 2 days so please download it

for further investigation.

Hi there @zipoxtra

Thanks for sending us this info!

Could you let us know if this started happening after a specific event such as an update either of Spotify or the OS of your iPhone?

On another note, would you mind asking a friend or a relative to log in to their account on your iPhone to see if they can replicate this behavior with their account? This will help us determine if the issue is account-related.

Keep us posted.

“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed heart opens.”– Maria von Trapp

obviously it started with this thread

that I started about the same issue

only regarding spotify's own songs

https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/Cant-change-volume-level-from-quiet-to-loud/m-p/592...

a moderator added a later post onto mine

somehow it was on top of mine,

but anyway this is when both local

and public songs did not respond to

volume changes on ios devices.

after the thread got traction another

update resolved the issue but only

for spotify songs. local songs

remained unresponsive unfortunately

update:

Unfortunately update version 8.9.36.597

doesn't solve this issue. 😕

still no fix in version 8.9.38.455

by the lack of response I guess

it's gonna stay this way...

Hey @zipoxtra,

We got some feedback from the teams backstage who are responsible for this setting.
They confirmed that volume changes are not intended to work with local files.

There is currently no setting specifically implemented for this purpose but thanks to you the issue is now on our radar. We can't confirm an exact update in which it will be addressed but do keep you app up to date at all times.

We're here for you in case there's anything else in the meantime 🙂
