Only half my local files syncing

When I try syncing my local files from my laptop to my iPhone it will only sync half of them, usually I get all or none syncing, the files are all good as I've used them on spotify before but they unsync themselves.

I've tried moving the files to a new folder and adding a new local source on my laptop, removing and readding the source, deleting and adding the songs to my playlists.

Thanks for posting in the Community!

We get that you have some issues with discovering your local files. We'd like you to know that the way Local files work has been changed a bit. There is no more syncing functionality between devices, but files must be present on the particular device where you'd like them to be discovered and streamed via the app. For more info you can check our updated FAQ page on the topic here.

That doesn't make sense because half of my local files on my laptop have synced over to my phone absolutely fine but the other half haven't. All the songs are in my local files on my phone but ones that haven't synced are blacked out and wont play. They were all working less than a week ago.

The fact that some of the songs stopped syncing may be because of the changes to Local files discovery. You can learn more about syncing files between your PC and iPhone here. Try syncing following this guide.

But half of my local files sync and they're all in the same folder as the ones that aren't syncing so shouldn't all of them sync or none at all? I haven't transferred the songs from my laptop to my phone either so there is no way Spotify can be picking up local files on my phone.

Thanks for the reply.

Currently the Local Files function is intended to work only with files, that are physically present on your device. The syncing will not be possible anymore.

You can check this FAQ page for info on how to play your local files with the new local files discovery implementation.
