Opening Whatsapp stops Music after iOS 14.4 update

Hi, 

after updating to iOS 14.4 Spotify not works anymore in background once opening Whatsapp. reproductions immediately stops with no reason (not sending audio messages or watching videos..just opening the Whatsapp app). 

Works well as usual in background with all the other apps. 

This is frustrating cause I need to open whatsapp for sending messages, and any time I need to restart Play..

already tried to resinstall both the apps but nothing. 

any clue/help?

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

What we'd suggest in this case, if you've already performed a clean reinstall of both apps (clearing app data and cache) is to try and disable all Whatsapp notifications. You can also check the app settings for each service and see whether there are any permissions which can be enabled.

You can also try turning on Do not disturb mode and see if that changes anything.

Since this is an issue involving a third party app, there isn't anything you can change in the Spotify app settings themselves which will prevent other apps interrupting the service.

You might want to turn to the support team from Apple as well if you've noticed that this happened only after the last update.

Same issue for me and my boyfriend. It’s very frustrating having to press play every time I check a message ...!! Pls share if you’ve found the solution!!

Hi, I had the same issue before. After some searching, i find this article here https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/Spotify-stops-when-opening-Whatsapp/td-p/1565110 and I tried to restart my iphone. Restart, not shutting down and turning the phone back on. After restart, the issue is solved. I hope it helps
