Phone defaults to chrome

Phone defaults to chrome

Hi been having an issue. This happened a few months back but went away and now back and worse than ever.

I play Spotify on iPhone X. I can be playing a playlist or liked songs and all of a sudden my song will stop and it’s defaulted to playing through chrome and it starts to play random tracks which are by artists I’ve never heard of and I think usually instrumental.

ive uninstalled and reinstalled app and also cleared history etc.

Now I don’t use Chrome at all as a web browserAlso it’s done this whilst in car so seems to be same on WiFi or 4G.

When pop up comes up I still click to still play on iPhone but still keeps playing the random music. I’ve went to forget this device on Chrome but still comes up.

I’ve now got to fed up that I’ve started to stream radio more as I’m constantly having to stop this music and go back to liked songs.

a few months back I also got an emails saying my password had been compromised on Spotify but I changed password.

Any ideas or anyone else having this issue?

You can change it on app basis. Open app info for a certain app (I can do it by holding on the icon in the home menu), then there's a setting called "Open by default", at least on Android 10. This might vary depending on phone manufacturer and Android version, but it's something like that.

Might be a simplification, but... Settings -> Apps ->spotify -> Open By Default

Hey @Leeanne1604,

Thanks for searching for the answer you need here. We hope you don’t mind us replying now as we just stumbled upon this thread.

If you're still experiencing the issue it's a good idea to go through all of the steps listed in this Support Article. You should also go through the list of third party apps that have accsess to your Spotify account and remove any of them you don't recognize. This page has a guide on how to do this.

Hope this was helpful for you. If you have questions, you know where to find us.
