My Question or Issue

(Spotify Version 8.8.26)

When holding down the (<<) button on the iOS Lock Screen to rewind 10s, the app continues skipping backwards continuously, even after I’ve released actually holding down the button. The (>>) button does not have this issue. Only closing the app down completely resolves the issue.

Hey @pineapple1998,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, we'd like to gather some additional info. Have you already tried reinstalling the app on the affected device to see if you notice any difference? If you haven't, we'd suggest you give it a try. You can follow the steps in this article to do it.

If the above doesn't do the trick, would you mind sending us a video recording of the described behavior? You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google drive and make it public, so we can watch it.

Lastly, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

Keep us in the loop!

Thanks for looking into this.

The reinstallation unfortunately did not fix the problem.

I did not notice in which specific update the problem began, but probably within the past 4–6 weeks. There was an update after the first issue which fixed it, then it came back with another later update.

I’m attaching a Google Drive link of the issue.

Thanks!

Hey @pineapple1998,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

To continue investigating this case, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

Also, to verify if it could be account-related or not,  it would be great if you could have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member to see if the issue persists.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hello,

The issue seemed to persist on another account.

The most recent update from late this week actually caused a different problem: now neither the forward nor the backward buttons work at all when held down. They can navigate between tracks, but now the rewind/forward functions aren’t working.

Hey @pineapple1998,

Thank you for your swift response.

We've recently received some reports from different users having the same issue that you described. This is already being investigated by the relevant teams to fix it as soon as possible, but we don't have a date for the resolution yet. The information about your case has already been added to the investigation and we'll let you know if there's any updates about it.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation in reporting this.

If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.

The most recent update has fixed this for me, thanks!

About 2 weeks ago my fast forward and rewind button weren’t working, now they are but they’re both continuously skipping forward/backwards and the only fix is to close the app and restart it

I have the same problem. Here's my info:

Spotify 8.8.30
iOS 16.3.1 (iphone xR)
2020 Mazda CX-9
Premium Family Plan
USA

For me, it looks like the latest version broke fast-forward and rewind via Bluetooth connection. I connect my iPhone to the car via Bluetooth and then open the Spotify app on my iPhone. To start a song, I press the play button on my car's interface. To fast-forward, I hold the skip button down on my car's interface. I then release it when I want to stop fast-forwarding. After the last Spotify update on my phone, however (8.8.30), it won't stop fast-forwarding when I lift up on the skip button. Same with rewind. It just continuously fast-forwards through every single song on the playlist until I restart the app.

I'm 8.8.40.462 now and still not fixed.

I’ve noticed if I hold down to fast forward or rewind, as long as I stop clicking before it skips a second time it doesn’t cause the issue. Obviously this is inconvenient but can provide a small workaround while we wait for the fix

Hi folks,

Thanks for the replies.

Can you let us know if this only happens when you're connected to a Bluetooth device or does it happen with just regular playback from your phone?

Cheers.

It’s only on car Bluetooth for me however I don’t think (to my knowledge) that you can skip forward and back on the mobile app

Hey @Quinlan,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info sent.

We can confirm that the right folks are aware of the situation. However, we don't have a specific date for this to be resolved, but we hope it will be as soon as possible.

We'd also recommend having your Spotify app updated so you don't miss any improvements coming your way.

If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.
