Podcast progress lost when switching devices

Podcast progress lost when switching devices

Recently, I have been facing an issue with podcast progress when switching between devices. I use Spotify on my desktop, iPhone, and Google Home interchangeably depending on my location.

Lately, I've noticed that the podcast progress frequently resets to an older position whenever I switch devices. This forces me to manually search for the correct position, which can be quite challenging, especially with long-form podcasts.

I hope this issue can be resolved soon. If it's possible, I am ready to send my logs to assist in troubleshooting. This problem has occurred at least three times this week.

Here are some details about my plan and devices:

  • Plan: Premium
  • Country: Netherlands
  • Devices: iPhone 12, MacBook Pro, Google Home Mini

Hi @AzizAntoun 

If you were to close the Spotify App on your phone or laptop entirely, does it still lose the progress on your phone?

I know that I've experience where my Apps will not be fully closed and they are running in the background thus the music I'm listening to would not be the same unless i close out completely.

Once you've closed the Spotify app, try playing a podcast and see if your progress is saved. If it is, then the issue was that the app was still running in the background. If your progress is still lost, let me know.

My Question or Issue

When I listen to a podcast on my phone but don't finish it I want to be able to go back to it later.

Instead whatever I listen to on another device replaces the podcast on my phone.

The podcast also seems to be considered "played" even if it's only played for a few seconds, so the unplayed filter becomes a bit useless.

 

Can this be fixed? It's pretty annoying.
