Problems with current Spotify iOS app

Problems with current Spotify iOS app

I've been having some problems with the most recent version of the Spotify app on iOS lately, which I'll go over right now: 1. Download Error: Whenever I try to finish downloading one of my playlists, an error message comes up saying "Download Error: Downloading has stopped because there's no more space left on this device." In the past I was able to download full playlists without any trouble, but now that I can't download some of my playlists, I've had to go through them and delete songs I would be willing to delete in order to download the rest of my music. This becomes more ignorant for me, because I'm pretty sure my Spotify downloads don't take up my iOS storage since they're just a part of the app. 2. Crossfade keeps breaking: Whenever I try to go to end of songs after turning on crossfade to see how the fade goes into the next, the crossfade never comes, even if I have the feature on. I don't know why this happens. 3. Preview feature is broken: In the past, if I was on a fast enough Wi-Fi network, I could touch and hold tracks to hear excerpts of them. But now, whenever I try to do so, it pops me back into the iOS home screen. I think the feature just suddenly broke after I switched to iOS 10. 4. Missing iOS 10 update: Speaking of which, usually most apps get an update that's compatible with the newest iOS when it's released. But I noticed than when iOS 10 came out recently, there was no Spotify update to be seen for it. No offense, but I'm not sure why Spotify doesn't have their priorities straight right now. In fact, they haven't put out a new update in ages. You'd think someone would have seen the bugs that I've pointed out, but no. I don't know why they're not updating the app right now. I really hope they do update it VERY soon, because I don't want to keep using a version of the Spotify app that clearly has issues like I pointed out.

  1. Offline downloads certainly do take up storage space on your device. On your iOS device go to settings > general > about and you'll see how much available space you have left on your device. If you go to settings > general > storage & icloud usage > manage storage (under the storage section) you'll be able to see how much space Spotify is taking, which will include offline files.
  2. I don't use crossfade so can't help with this one, sorry
  3. Preview is broken for me too after the iOS 10 update. I hope Spotify release an update; they haven't since May.
  4. I know they've got a big interface design overhaul in the works. Hopefully there's an update soon to fix all these little niggles.

Regarding your 4th complaint, Spotify can't update their app, as Apple refuses to let them update their app through the App Store, due to an unresolved dispute between the two companies that started in May. You have to apply for iOS beta testing instead and just update through that using TestFlight.

EDIT: I posted an update to this post below.

Update regarding my last post. Spotify is now being updated on iOS again as of a few hours ago. Turns out the dispute has been resolved and Spotify is being updated on the platform again. From a friend of mine's screenshots who owns the iPhone 7 Plus, it would appear that everything that's broken has been fixed as of the latest update.
