Search tab is empty on iOS

Search tab is empty on iOS

From some time, my search tab is empty and I have no idea what to do

iPhone 13 Pro Max

iOS 16, but this problem started on 15

Latest Spotify app according to app store

Very stable internet connection, tried on multiple networks, mobile data

Searching for content works, but the suggestions pane is empty. I'm using it to discover new music and podcasts.

Tried with closing app, offloading it, but no change. Reinstall app is last option, as I have a lot of downloaded content.

I have the same problem.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

Can you let us know if this started recently, after an app or OS update?

Looking forward to your replies.

Hello,

I have this problem before updating to iOS 16, so I believe it happened after app update, not OS update itself. It started recently, let's say 2 weeks approximately.

Edit: I have secondary phone (iPhone SE 2020 with running iOS 16 currently), where I have the exact same issue:

And same story as the device in my original post - the issue started on iOS 15, so I don't think iOS 16 is the cause of this, it should be app bug in my opinion.

Update 15.09.2022: I completely uninstalled the app on my secondary iPhone SE 2020, reinstalled it, but the search tab is empty again.

Thank you,

Yoan

Hi there @yoanignatov,

Thanks for the post.

Since this is happening on multiple devices, it could be an account related issue.

Can you try logging in with a different account on one of your phones to test this. You can ask a friend/ family member to log in with theirs.

I tried this on an iPhone with Spotify ver. 8.7.66 and the Search tab had all categories, so I guess it's not an issue with the latest release.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Hello Alex,

I created a dummy account for test purposes only and the content in question appeared in search tab as it should be, so as you said, it appears to be account issue, but I'm not aware what is causing it. I already tried (with no luck) logging out of all my devices using the button "Sign out everywhere" in my Account page, but that's all I can from my side.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you,

Hello Jeremy,

Thank you for the provided information. I checked the article in question, and I confirm that I have more than enough free space on my phone for the app to operate normally. In an attempt to fix that, I finally decided to uninstall Spotify on my main iPhone 13 Pro Max and these are the steps I did before that:

1. Clear cache from Spotify settings

2. Force close it from recent tasks

3. Open Spotify, the search tab was empty again

4. Went in Settings again, cleared all downloads + cache

5. Force close app and remove from recent, like in step 2

6. Reopen Spotify again, no change in the search tab

7. Logged out

8. Completely uninstalled Spotify

9. Clean and fresh install from AppStore

10. Log in, search tab is still empty, so we are back to where we started.

Thank you,

Hey @yoanignatov,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info provided.

In this case, since everything works normally with the dummy account, it's most likely account-related. But just to make sure about it, would you mind checking with another Wi-Fi connection to see if it makes any difference? In case you don't have a different Wi-Fi network available, you can try with your mobile data.

Lastly, could you check if the Web Player has that section empty as well or if it's displaying it normally? This will give us a better look at the issue.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hello Oscar,

Without making any kind of changes to my devices, account or else since my last post, the content reappeared on all of my phones, just like that. I still believe it was issue from Spotify-side, but it "self-repaired", which is the most important thing.
