Shazams from Apple Watch or iPhone action button don't go to My Shazam Playlist in spotify

Shazams from Apple Watch or iPhone action button don't go to My Shazam Playlist in spotify

Shazams from within the Shazam app itself go straight to My Shazam playlist in spotify. Brilliant. However, if I Shazam a song from my Apple Watch, iPhone action button or from the control center whilst these songs show in the Shazam app they do not go to My Shazam playlist in Spotify. Only songs shazamed from within the open app do. I have spoken with Apple support and tried everything including turning off/on appropriate iCloud sync settings, disconnecting and reconnecting spotify with Shazam, updating both apps and iOS software, removing VPNs and even a full phone reset.

Nothing works. Will spotify fix this? There is no point shazaming anything from my watch or quickly from action button if the songs do not go to spotify playlist.

Device

iphone 16 Apple watch series 10

Operating System

latest ios/watch (updated to try and fix problem)

Hey @AppleWatchMan,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

Since 2022, Spotify is deprecating software that prohibits 3rd party apps from integrating with Spotify. This change affects different apps such as SoundHound, Nike+Running and others.

Keep also in mind that Shazam is not an official partner, so the behavior you're describing could be expected. Spotify is always testing things by adding or removing features to make the app better overall, so you or someone else may see something new or get a limited feature temporarily on the app. We’re sorry that this means you’re not able to use the feature like you wish to do at the moment.

Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you.

Appreciate your help, Oscar - thank you!!! Apple are not playing nice now they own Shazam. Sadly I will probably leave for Apple Music as I use Shazam a lot to build playlists and discover new music.
