Shuffle Play from an artist's page never works properly. Shuffle Play doesn't play all songs.

Shuffle Play from an artist's page never works properly. Shuffle Play doesn't play all songs.

Hello,

There seems to be a major ongoing problem when choosing "Shuffle Play" from any Artist's Page. We've been testing this out for the last year, and we've noticed that this problem occurs for EVERY ARTIST that has more than 2 albums!

The problem is this:

Spotify DOESN'T always play all of the artist's songs when you press on the big green "Shuffle Play" button on the Artist's Page! Spotify only plays SOME of the artist's songs!

We have noticed this problem with EVERY ARTIST that has more than 2 albums in the system, but here is just a tiny example of the problem in action:

This is the artist's page for "The Head And The Heart":
https://open.spotify.com/artist/0n94vC3S9c3mb2HyNAOcjg

But if you click on "Shuffle Play", it only plays SOME of their songs. We have noticed that it only plays approximately 75% of their songs, but completely ignores about 25% of their songs altogether.

For example, it doesn't play this song as part of Shuffle Play, but it also ignores about 15 other songs as well:

This problam has been going on for at least a year with ALL ARTISTS, not just a few artists. Why is this happening? Are you guys purposely omitting songs from the "Shuffle Play" functionality for some sort of contractual reasons with the music studios? Or is this just a terrible bug in your programming code?

Can you please explain why you guys are doing this, and if it will ever be fixed?

Again, we have noticed this problem with EVERY ARTIST on Spotify that has more than 2 albums. The "Shuffle Play" will only play about 75% of the artist's songs.

We've seen this with ALL of our favorite artists: Leonard Cohen, Belle and Sebastian, The Killers, etc. etc.

If you are not doing this purposely, then can you please fix this problem? If you are doing it purposely, can you please explain why you guys are doing this?

Thank you!

p.s. This bug is on both the iPhone and the iPad app.

                      Every song
               On an Artist's page
                     Should play
                       Shuffled
               Without any repeat--
Until each and every track has played

And you can have that, @scotty321!

You just have to find some user who has made Public her fix to this bug in the Shuffle.

In your complaint to Spotify, you might give them the following Working prototype that my friends created for Van Morrison-- an automatically refreshed, NonRepeating play experience of all of the tracks under the Artist's page.

          Songs_Radio >> https://open.spotify.com/user/rednblu/playlist/0td5oLjwJt59zm1sVHbAHP << Songs_Radio

Songs_Radio will play for you each and every one of the 611 unique songs under Van Morrison's artist page-- without repeats-- That is because my friends love Van Morrison most of all-- mixed with at least 6000 other random songs from  AllOfSpotify  to give a whole month's worth of NonRepeating play-- 24X7.

When you show that  Songs_Radio  to Spotify, you might include some simple instructions for them on how to use it to see how Shuffle should work--

* Start from the top of  Songs_Radio .
* Play through until you want to stop.
* When you restart, just search for where you stopped, and start with the next track.
* Whenever the track where you stopped is not found, just play from the top again.

Spotify should be able to automate for you that [restart just after where you last stopped], would you agree?  (Let us all laugh at fate together, shall we?)

My friends automatically refresh  Songs_Radio  to keep about 3000 tracks in it-- So just follow  Songs_Radio  and then make your followed copy of  Songs_Radio  "Available Offline"-- Then, you can restart  Songs_Radio  even when you have no WiFi-- and then, when you have free WiFi, your "Available Offline"  Songs_Radio  will automatically refresh while you are playing.  Make sense?

Cheers.
