Sort by ascending or descending (date added)

Solved!

Sort by ascending or descending (date added)

Hi,

On the iPad version on a playlist you can swipe down to reveal a sort function in the top.

Why isn't this available on the iPhone version?

If you keep many active playlists and add new songs frequently, you most likely want to have your latest added tracks on top. Now you have to scroll down, start somewhere in the bottom and use the controllers a lot to go back after a song is played.

@sanscolour Its available on the iPhone under My Music (Songs, Albums, etc), where you pull down, you can see the filter icon and you can sort by title or date added.

All playlists by default sorts by date added.

@jeremygoh Do you have a screenshot? It's not the same sorting function as I have on the iPad.

Just to be clear, I don't want to FILTER my playlist by name. I want to SORT the songs added to a playlist so the oldest song is last, not first like now. I only find a filter function on the phone but not change from ascending (oldest first) to decending (newest first).

@sanscolour Ah yeap, that isn't available on the iPhone. You might want to chip in a idea at the Spotify Idea Exchange?

@jeremygoh Sure, shall I just copy+paste my first comment or can I move the thread, do you know?

@sanscolour yeah you can create a new idea and chip in there and paste the link here, I'll give a kudo for your idea! 🙂

This implimentation is ridiculous! You add a new song most likely because you like it and want to listen to it more often. It should automatically go to the TOP of the playlist.

As it is now on the iPhone app it is saved at the bottom of your playlist. So after you finish listening to your new favourite song the playlist ENDS, because Spotify's UI saved it at the end of the playlist!

Who's the genius who came up with this logic?

* Why is the sort order functionality implimented in the iPad app and not the iPhone? And why isn't a simple change like this universal across all platforms? I change the sort order on my Mac and want the same on my iOS!

Agreed. Just came to spotify from android and no longer having this feature is killing the experience.

Big day (and finally)! Thank you @MattSuda.

You're welcome! Enjoy! We ranted so many times, I think they finally listened. 🙂

It's a step on the right direction but we still have to sort every time.
In android you could set your sort preference and it would save that
preference. Having to sort every time I enter a playlist is almost s bad
as scrolling to the end for my new songs...

Selecting "recently added" sort function doesn't stay. Instead it returns back to "custom" the next time I open the sorting screen. The sort feature appears to be broken. iOS iPhone. Any ideas?

@blikesmusic

It stays for me. Hmmm...

THANK YOU! Spotify - the current UI for this sorting function isn't intuitive at all and needs redesigning.

I've tried that solution and it works only as long as I stay in the playlist as soon as I leave and come back it's changed back again

Same here

@yellobannana444

Sorry about that. There was a bug with it.

This should be fixed in version 8.4.1

Make sure to go to the app store and update
