Sound stops periodically for couple seconds and then is distorted after.

So I just started noticing while playing music on spotify the music will occasionally stop for a couple of seconds then resume playing. But shortly after it resumes playing the sound is distored and jumbled. It sounds like its "missing frames".

I have tested streaming on SoundCloud or Apple Music and i do not experience the same issues. 

couple things to note: 

1. i just updated to iOS 11.3. I was not noticing this issue on 11.2.6. iPhone 7 Plus. 
2. I have killed the app relaunched, problem still occurs.
3. I have logged in and out, problem still occurs.
4. I have deleted the app and reinstalled, problem still occurs.

This is pretty annoying since I pay for premium and its such an unpleasant experience while trying to listen to music.
