Spotify 1.7.0 crashing on sync

Solved!

Spotify 1.7.0 crashing on sync

Just added some new local files to my starred playlist yesterday, and app was crashing when I tried to sync (about 12 songs?)

Then today the same was happening, reinstalled the app, synced all the spotify tracks fine, then tried to sync the local files (approx 150), it made it until the last 60 before crashing. Since then it syncs a couple at a time, before crashing up until the last ~45, and now it crashes immediately upon opening the app.

Any ideas/help would be appreciated!

Changed region, didnt work
Airplane mode trick, didnt work

It only stopped working after i change to a new sim card. Was fine earlier.

ip5. Ios8. Latest spotify.

I've tried every single suggestion in this thread.  I've been super patient, and now I'm annoyed.

I get about 50% of the way through the sync EVERY TIME, and then will crash.

reopen, get about 15% of the way through the remaining tracks, and then it will crash.

after that, app crashes every time I open within 5-10 seconds.

I do not have the filter turned on.  I have change the region setting as suggested.  I have uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, changed settings, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled... and EVERY SINGLE TIME, it's the same thing.

I finally had to delete the app, and try and create some playlists from my itunes...

Please, get this fixed, I have relied solely on Spotify for over 2 years now, and all my music and playlists are there...

iPhone 6, iOS 8, Spotify version 1.7.1

I agree totaly with the last post as I'm having the same issue with the same set up have tried every so called work around on this forum and they do not fix the issue therfore they are NOT workarounds just suggestions.

This is exactly what is happening to me.  I've also tried all of the work arounds and suggestions and I still haven't had any success.  I haven't heard back from customer service since Friday.  I'm going to try downgrading to an older version of spotify but I'm getting desperate and if that doesn't work I'm considering canceling my service until this issue is fixed even though I've been a loyal customer/fan of Spotify for almost 2 years.  This is getting ridiculous and I can't listen to any of my music at this point because I only use spotify for music on my iPhone.

Changing Region from US to UK did not work for me. 4s. iOS 8.

Definitely "A" for me.

Edit: iPhone 4s iOS 8

I reinstalled. Started. Played a song offline.
Closed and reopened app. Added a playlist (full album). (Please return the feature that auto names playlists. Since that changed I've had a lot of problems with Spotify crashing and pretty sure that happened before iOS 😎

Anyway closed and reopened after adding the playlist. Still worked.

Restarted phone. Added one song playlist. "never let me down again" by Depeche Mode. Played song offline over wifi. Worked.

Restarted phone. Opened Spotify. Played song again. Downloaded song offline. Played song worked.

Restarted phone. Opened Spotify played song. worked.

Set the filter to show only offline songs. Played song. Worked.

Restarted phone. Spotify crashes every time now.

Can we expect automatic refunds on our accounts for the affected period?

Thank you.

Hi everyone after trying all of the suggestions and workarounds in this thread I still wasn't able to get the app to fully sync my playlists to my iPhone without it crashing then after that it would sync on startup.  I downgraded to an older version of spotify (0.9.4) and it worked!!!  I now have all of my music synced and so far haven't had any app crashes.  Using an older version isn't ideal but at least now I can listen to my music until spotify comes up with a fix for this new version.

To downgrade to the older version (FYI I have an iPhone 5S, iOS 7.1.2, a macbook pro and iTunes version 11.4):

1) Delete spotify from your iphone and your itunes.  To delete it from itunes go to Apps in your library not under your iphone's tab.  Click on spotify and press delete or right-click spotify and choose delete.  itunes will probably have a pop-up confirming you want to delete it.  It may also ask "Do you want to move the selected app to the Trash or keep it in the Mobile Applications folder?"  MAKE SURE YOU MOVE IT TO THE TRASH!!!  Then empty your trash.

2) Now you need to download an older version of the mobile app.  I'm using version 0.9.4.  You can download it from this site http://www.fileswap.com/dl/EryQ6LjBJM/  (click the slow download for a free download).  You'll then be prompted to save the file.  You want to save it to your "Mobile Applications" folder.  Finder>Music>iTunes>Mobile Applications

3) After you save it to the mobile applications folder, right click on the file "Spotify 0.9.4.ipa" and choose "Open with > iTunes"  It should now appear in your apps library as well as under the apps tab of your iPhone's summary.

4) IMPORTANT: before you sync your iPhone with itunes to get the older version of the app on your iphone make sure you turn off automatic updates on your iphone otherwise spotify will update to the newest version that keeps crashing.  Settings>iTunes & App Store>Automatic Downloads>uncheck Apps and uncheck Updates

5) Now you can sync your iphone with itunes and the older spotify will appear on your iphone.

6) Login to spotify on your iphone and sync away!!

7) LISTEN TO MUSIC USING SPOTIFY ON YOUR IPHONE WITHOUT CRASHES!!!!!!

I hope this helps!!!!

Doesn't work for me. iOS 8, changed region and the app still crashed when syncing.

Hey everyone! Thanks again for providing this feedback and for your patience while the team investigates these crashes.

In the meantime, it’s worth giving this workaround a try for users with iOS 8:

1) Go to SettingsLanguage & Region (in iOS 😎

2) Under Region Formats change the Region to something else. eg, change it to UK if you're in the US.

3) Open Spotify.

As Richard mentioned, If you're still having trouble, please let us know which of the following applies to you:

A) The app is crashing after you've turned on the Available Offline Only filter in your playlists.

B) The app is crashing after you've synced music offline. You haven't used the filter.

C) The app is crashing more generally. If the app is crashing and you haven't got anything synced, this applies to you.

In any case, please also let us know the model of iPhone you're using and version of iOS.

We will be posting here as soon as we have a new update for all of you. Rest assured your comments and feedback are being passed on and the team is  hard at work to get things back to normal.

I tried changing the region setting to The Netherlands but it did not work. I tried the other suggestions as well, airplane mode, reinstalling, login out all devices etc.

I am running IOS 8 and my Spotify app does not start. I see the logo for 7 seconds without anything else and than it disappears.

Hi,

Running an iphone 4S with IOS 7.1.  The app was working for me at around midday yesterday and hasn't worked since (but then I had just set the account to Online status, whereas I normally run in Offline mode) Exhausted all of the work arounds and the App still refuses to load past the splash screen.

This one applies to my account

A) The app is crashing after you've turned on the Available Offline Only filter in your playlists.

Hopefully they'll get this patched out for IOS 7 and 8 very soon.

Thanks

Steve

None of the solutions work for me. The app just shows the start screen and crashes after a few seconds.

iphone5, ios8

Hi Meredith -

Changing geographic setting does not work on my iPhone. As for the 2nd part - I am C) - the app is crashing on the startup screen.

Since iOS 8 update.

I can't believe you can resolve the problem since iOS 8 update .

I don't know if it's related but Spotify started having issues for me after the update that removed the auto name playlist feature. I'm fairly certain that that happened before ios 8 update, but could be wrong.

I'm having the issue where it starts to crash on startup and then once it does it once I have to reinstall. Unfortunately, I've had to do that about 4 times now.

Using an iPhone 6 running OS 8.

Am pretty certain it only happens after I use the 'available offline only' filter button. Not straight away but soon after. Very annoying. Also, why do I have to name playlists myself now? And why do downloaded albums not appear at the top any more? (I know this changed a while ago but it's annoying - I've downloaded them because I listen to them the most so it makes sense for them to be at the top)
