Spotify Carplay - Can't view 'Now Playing'

Spotify Carplay - Can't view 'Now Playing'

Hi,

I recently bought a new head unit with Carplay and am pretty unhappy with it (from an Apple perspective, nowhere near as evolved as it shoudl be at this point).

One thing that really annoys me about the Carplay Spotify app specifically is that if I select a playlist or radio on my phone, I don't get the 'now playing' view on my head unit with the play or skip buttons. To skip a song I basically have to pick up my phone and change it from there.

Am I just being thick or is there no way to skip songs unless you select the playlist from your phone?

I often start radios based on playlists I have, hence why I start from my phone and not my head unit directly where you don't have this option.

Thanks

P.S. My head unit is a Kenwood DMX7017DABS and I have an iPhone 6.

FYI iOS 11.1 fixes this.

I’m having the exact same problem. This never used to be an issue however (I’ve had this car for almost 2 years) so it must be some sort of bug in the latest CarPlay update. Hopefully they’ll get it squared away soon, it’s definitely annoying,

I realised the other day that Apple Music seems to be affected in the same way, so certianly not a Spotify thing!

Hello,

It might be an Apple problem, have you tried contacting Apple yet?

It could be a problem of the new CarPlay update as well, if this is actually the problem, you should wait for a staff member to comment on this thread.

Hellow, I am Dylano.
It's lovely to help out the Spotify Community!

How can one log a bug with Apple unless you are a registered developer?

Bugreport.apple.com doesn't allow joe public to log anything.
