My Question or Issue

Hello, I have a problem with the Lyrics function of Spotify. I am using the Japanese premium version of Spotify which gives me access to the synchronized song lyrics to most songs. 
My problem with this is that the window in which the lyrics are displayed is closing randomly mid-song a lot. I assume it might have something to do with the way I hold my phone, but I have yet to find the culprit. Maybe someone here can help me with this. Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the delayed response, we just came across this thread. Could you let us know if you’re still having troubles with this?

If you are, can you let us know if you've already tried to log out > restart your device > log back in? It's also a good idea to try a clean reinstall to clear any old files that might be causing issues.

If that doesn't do it for you, we'll need to know if this happens on all your devices and their models and OS version.

I had the exact same problem on my iPhone 11. I did what you suggested and now all the lyrics are gone (they are just not there) and also the videos on the songs are not showing, what is going on? At least I had the lyrics (even if they were randomly closing) before and now everything is simply gone. Thanks in advance.

Edit: restarted my phone again and the lyrics/videos came back, but the lyrics keep closing randomly

We're happy to hear that you got your videos back - restarting the device is a very effective, but often overlooked step.

Could you let us know whether or not you continue to experience the issue with lyrics on another device or when you log in to a friend or family members account? This way we can narrow down if the root cause of the problem is account or device related.

I also experience this issue. Even after restarting my device it still doesn’t go away.
When I lay my phone on a flat surface it doesn’t seem to happen. But when I’m holding it, the it happens.

I’m using an iPhoneXS IOS 14.3

Would you mind letting us know if you've already tried performing a clean reinstall of the app? This is often an overlooked step, but it can be helpful for clearing any cache that might be causing issues. 

If this doesn't do the trick, could you ask a friend or a family member to log into their account using your device and see if they can replicate this?

If you're still experiencing this issue can you give us the following info:

• Device Model and exact OS version
• Spotify version
• Does this happen when you are connected to a different network Wi-Fi/mobile data.

I am having the same issue with iPhone 11 Plus. I figure out that the problem is whenever your phone connects to a new wifi network, the lyrics window will randomly minimise or worst close the whole song window and back to the playlist page. Really wish Spotify could fix this issue by either temporarily caching the lyrics when there’s network. Otherwise it’s really a fantastic music platform.

Hello, I know I’m late but I have a similar problem. Almost every time I click on the lyrics the window with the lyrics and the song closes. I deleted my cache, deleted and reinstalled Spotify, restarted my phone etc. Idk if it’s important but I have an IPhone 12 and I use Spotify premium family.

Hey, I have a similar problem, when I click on the lyrics, the lyrics window just completely closes and it’s super annoying, I need to click on it 2/3 times till it finally works. My Spotify version is 8.8.22.517. My IOS version is iOS 16.3.1 (20D67)  and I have an iPhone 12. It happens when I’m in my normal WLAN. Thank you for your help! 🙂

It's always best to post only one comment with all relevant info included.

As for your issue - this indeed sounds odd and we'll do our best to help you fix it. Could you please share with us if the app behaves the same way with a different account? If a friend or a family member has a Spotify account, would you ask them to log in on your device and test this?

hey so my spotify version is 8.8.26.446 and my ios version is iOS 16.4.1 (20E252) and i have an iphone se and i have this same problem, whenever i open the lyrics the lyrics and the song closes and sometimes it doesn't happen but most of the time it does, please get it fixed, thanks

Hello, thank you for answering me! Also I am very sorry for the two posts- I’m kinda new to this. I will follow your guidelines from now on! Back to the problem- My brother logged in with his account on my phone and the lyrics window still closed after opening it. It doesn’t happen to all songs but to the most.

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

We understand you’ve already tried some troubleshooting steps including reinstalling, but to be sure that we're on the same page - did you use the steps for a clean reinstall mentioned in this article? If so, could you check if the issue happens using a different Wi-Fi network or mobile data?

Also, since the issue happens with a different account as well and to make sure it's not device-related, would you mind checking on a different device (using your own account) to see if it makes any difference? If you don't have another one available, you can borrow one from a friend or family member to test it out.

Hello I finally found some thread about bug which I am experiencing for long time (I see it´s still not fixed for years),

I have same problem as people in this thread. Now I am using iPhone Xr (OS version 16.3.1) and Spotify App (version 8.8.26.446 just mentioning I had this bug in earlier version before updating to this) - just to summarize the bug: I open the Spotify app -> tap some song to play -> scroll down under the video of song to see lyrics -> tap box with lyrics to open -> (and here is the bug) it makes the animation for open lyrics (maximize the box with lyrics) and then it automatically make animation for closing without physically touched the screen (it backs to video/controls screen of played song) then it split to two ways 1. If you again immediately tap lyrics box after animation for closing lyrics box stop it will do animation for getting back to playlist from the video/control screen and stays on playlist screen . Way 2. If you wait little and then tap to open again lyrics it will open them and stay on the lyrics box so then its good. 

- sometimes this bug happens after clicking for skip to some text of lyrics (when you click part of lyrics it will change play time to this part) and sometimes just by opening lyrics (maximize the box with lyrics)

- I noticed it´s more likely on slower internet - maybe it´s because of loading the lyrics

- mostly when I tap lyrics box to maximize it and then wait without touching screen for like 3-5 seconds then it´s not seem to have this bug

I will be thankful for fixing this its super anoying :-D.
